Yea, I figured any rotary would be the last motor you want in a truck being used for real truck duties, but seeing as the most weight I would be hauling with it would be gravel/dirt for short trips, it could probably handle it. But mostly, what can of AI lurker would I be if I didn't want a rotary swapped truck. It's a bit more than I was looking to spend on a truck, but I should probably get rid of my miata to free up parking for it anyway. Mostly I was hoping that spyder might have some personal knowledge of that truck/owner/builder, as he seems to know everything rotary going on in the portland area.

gravel/dirt get super heavy fast. You'd be revving to 6k just to try to get rolling from a stop. If not, flood. lol!

It came up recently in a conversation and no one recognized it in the local community. It's not a terrible price, but you can get the same truck for $1800 with the org 4cyl.

True, but I am not talking about a bed full of gravel, more just bags from Home Depot for little projects in the yard. Pretty much any truck this size would have issues with a bed full of gravel. the spyder posted:I'm afraid I do not. The truck is definitely overpriced, maybe for $2500 I would think about it. There are a couple others I have been keeping an eye on, as well as some old datsuns as well. Mostly over priced, but the wife has already decided the truck has to be "cute", so no rangers/s10. On the upside she does like the old couriers/b2000/datsun trucks, so now I just have to find one in decent shape thats not overpriced.

It's like you've all forgotten about the rotary engine pick up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ml2ecdUmNU I think you need to put something in the bed just to help get traction. When I sold my cars the other week I even gave the buyer some old books I had. One was the aussie rotary owners handbook that had reprints of ads, old orig spec sheets and some race mods, the other was some old USA vintage 70s/80s modifying manual that had a lot of info on the REPU as well as the 2,3 and 4. So.. maybe this is the wrong place to solicit parts, but do you have a spare control case? My PO installed this lovely B&M shifter and all I want to do is go back to stock/RE Amemiya and Mazdacomp is sold out.

They tend to be high on HCs, typically. Fortunately, my '90 RX-7 has been exempt in TX since 2015, because it seems to be running rich for some reason, despite a fresh O2. A little E85 got it by the last inspection. At some point I'll figure out why the ECU is doing that (no check engine light, just runs a bit rich.)

You don't happen to have any old HKS PFC F-CON wiring do you? I bought a new in box one for my 323 GTX and it didnt come with a harness. Mazda used a single ECU connector style around that time, so I assume I could just move pins around. I don't want to cut up the GCC harness I have unless I run out of options...

Weekend update: It feels like someone ran me over with a steam roller. Which is a good thing! I've had a productive/stressful few weeks. Here's what I've managed to get done car wise. The real reason I've been busy: First up- my short term goal is to get the montego blue car done. I had a bunch of small things to do, mainly brackets and a battery box. Randomly a new FD has appeared. Local fellow traded for it and I could go into the details (eBay parts, garage rebuild, stock edu/fuel system...), but it just makes my head hurt. I sold him a ECU, which ended up needing to be RMA'd to Adaptronic- and fixed his TPS/drivability. Car has 100 miles on it since the garage rebuild. Bets on how long it lasts? The best part of the update: Rotary B2200 is happening! The second best part: I've resurrected the 20b project . Random shop pics:

That generation of Celica is just so cool-looking. My wife had a '78 when I met her, and it was cool enough, but that one is cooler. (Yes, I regret letting hers go, but at the time we were in apartments.)

I have yet to toss this on my lift- but it's a Cali car and outside of surface rust, it appears decent from a quick inspection. I had ~20 minutes to decide if I wanted it before my friend sold it to a local collector/Celica hoarder. The deal is it can be stored here (which helped him) until the titles figured out and money exchanged. Worst case, it gets sold to the other guy because it's too big of a PITA to get the title in a reasonable time.

CAT INTERCEPTOR posted:13B in a Celica? Thats like dead boring eaaaaaasy. Seen it a number of times. I think the first gen hardtop (with boot) was pretty cool. I think it was one of the first 5 spd manuals too, and a good gearbox it was. E: you used to be able to buy adaptor plates (or bell housings) to bolt rotaries onto the celcia gear box. I wonder if you still can?* I had a mate with a first gen back in the 1990s and it went better than any of our "spares" mazda 4cyl cars. Not such a fan of the liftback "mustang" styled one though. And of course after that celicas just got worse and worse. *If not, pretty sure it was dellow in australia that made them http://dellowconversions.com.au/product-category/bellhousings-manual/ Seems a bit pricey now, used to be only 200-300, not loving $700!
