If this whole series has been a backdoor pilot for a spinoff starring Cabba, Caulifla, and Kale, I'm up for it. They're all so good, I'm legitimately more interested in them than anyone else, including U7. And to flip that on the other end, this preparation arc is exhausting, bordering on boring, and I wish it'd end already.

You know what I find humorous? Folks that complain how easy the U6 Saiyans have managed to get SSJ forms when the only person we've seen put in more work for SSJ1 on the page in the manga (which, given Toriyama is writing the base for this I figure takes precedence) is Goku. Future Trunks, Vegeta, Trunks, and Goten all went SSJ off screen and with no explanation. Gohan we saw try and fail once, then try and succeed. Vegeta and Goku got SSJ2 off screen from, ostensibly, training and they were both far weaker than Caulifla is now. By the manga's standards these three have busted their asses.

Vegeta just showed up with SSJ and never explained how he got it. Trunks started the History of Trunks story already knowing how to turn SSJ.

Like it's stupid that they are able to do it so easy But that's fine. SSJ has been stupid since Goten and Kid Trunks did it for no good reason. It's just a technique that Sayians can do if they know how to do it. That's fine.

Super Saiyan after Goku's initial transformation by necessity has to have a way to trigger it that isn't "I'm so loving angry" because nobody is that angry all the time, not even Vegeta. They never actually explained how they did it but the mere fact that Goku and Gohan ran around as Chill Super Saiyans prior to the Cell Games shows that it's not just a waaaage thing."You have to focus your chi on a specific point in your body" is as sensible as anything especially when you remember that Saiyans already have one transformation focused around a specific point on their back (or rather tail) anyway.

Future Gohan would just give up in the Tournament if he thought he was going to lose though. Even in the manga and anime he chose to die instead of finishing training with Trunks.
