Guarantee their warehouse was a disaster as they tried to sort out duplicate orders that their market site sometimes recorded, sometimes didn't, and sometimes duplicated. Everyone just running around trying to figure out what's real and what's not, and the wrong label got put in the wrong box. Someone out there probably ordered three rockets and ended up with a box of minifigures or something.

Waltzing Along posted:The saturn is 6 inches in diameter. Baseball bats are usually less than 5. The saturn is over 36 inches long, bats are usually under 35. It's possible there is a case but it would be a tight squeeze. I measure less than 5 inches fin‐to‐fin (128 mm). You’d need to multiply that by √2 for a cylindrical case, but it will fit in a case with a square, 5 × 5 cross section. Almost precisely 1 m long. The best I can find in bat cases is 97 cm long, 154 mm tall, 122 mm deep. I think I could route out a little of the wood backing plate to get the depth, if necessary. The length could come for the rocket, or I could cut a small hole in the acrylic on the escape tower end, which might look silly, but would keep the rocket intact. You could shorten it a bit by using the blue stands and disconnecting the CM+SM. Then put it to one side of the rocket, similar to how KSC has theirs displayed.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Baseball-Bat-Display-Case-/182429761554?hash=item2a79a94012:g:-gAAAOSwr~lYpXU0 That guy makes 38" bat cases. They're only 4" deep, but he says he does custom work so doing a 6" case wouldn't be out of the question. Not horrible pricing for custom acrylic, either.

I see some wall-hanging bat display cases on amazon that can hold 2+ bats, and they often have room for a baseball beneath. You could get a larger case like that and display it at an angle!

I could have a local plastics shop make a case and it would have nice curved acrylic corners (as opposed to sheets glued together), but it would cost a lot more than the bat case and I’d have to do the woodworking myself. I'm considering just hanging it form the ceiling, but then it would have no UV protection. So, with the Saturn V on the way and the out of print Shuttle Expedition rather expensive... I think it's time to try Lepin.

You could get a long sheet of perspex and use heat to bend it into a u shape then mount it to a wood back piece. Probably wouldn't be too costly

Saw the Saturn V on the toysrus site this weekend, listed in stock for home delivery. Ordered one, but wondering if the site doesn't update stock on the weekend since I got an order confirmation but no ship confirmation and the site is now listening them out of stock. Wonder if I'll be getting one anytime soon or not.

The extra one is Jeb of course. And the 2008 beetle isn't great, but it does look a lot better in person than in product shots.

I feel like the only goon that doesn't want the Saturn 5. It looks nice, it is an excellent price/piece, but I just don't really have any urge to get it. I guess I would rather pick up something more visually interesting. I already have too many grey star wars ships on display.

The amount of small details and just the overwhelming size at half finished makes it really impressive in person.
