The show went 6 seasons, most shows cap out at 7, it had it's time. Most shows die before a 2nd season.

Liberals don't understand this poo poo either as evidenced by people on Tumblr freaking out about Netflix canceling 'The Get Down' after one season. "A show about Black people is being canceled, must be race related." The reason wasn't even about money. The show's creator didn't have enough time in his schedule to make another season.

Apparently the entire concept of the mall is alive and well in Asia. The Philippines alone is home to four of the top 11, and twenty-loving-two of the 100 largest malls in the world. From what I can tell they're doing alright, with some reporting nearly a million visitors a day. I was wondering why malls kept popping up on TripAdvisor's lists of top things to do in Manila - it's because they're gigantic self-contained cities with some really interesting attractions. I remember visiting the West Edmonton Mall when I was about ten, and it was at the time the largest in the world. It's still the biggest in North America, but it's all the way down at #19 overall now. We gotta get our poo poo together, North America.

I used to live near the Bridgewater Mall in New Jersey, which was bustling until we moved out to NYC in the mid-2000s. I wonder how it's doing. It's not in an economically depressed area like some of the malls that have been highlighted in the thread, so maybe it's still in good shape?

Our local Kmart is closing That leaves just Wal-Mart in our town. It's a shopping desert. If you want to go to any store of substance, either drive 40 minutes west to Ames or an hour north to Des Moines. Our mall is also nearly dead. Basically all that is left is a head shop called Liberty Gifts, a Mexican restaurant, a couple of shoe stores, an extremely expensive sports store, anchor stores like Younkers and JC Penney's, and Bath & Body Works. Oh, and dying mall staple GNC.

I've been to Manila three times for work, and they build malls like the US builds fighter jets! When three or four or five malls close to each other grow big enough they form a giant megamall. You can literally walk for days inside ones and not see everything. I've mostly stayed in the Greenbelt area, but I've also been to Greenhills to buy fake watches and handbags.

Well ya if you dont count the middle of Mall of America: The ranking area does not include Nickelodeon Universe, a large indoor amusement park at the center of the mall, which would add an additional 131,800 m2 (1,419,000 sq ft), and make it the largest in North America and the 12th largest in the world.

Yea, I double checked and even after these closings, they still have 1,200 stores. Might take longer than I was thinking. Good questions to ask is when has a company ever rebounded after closing nearly half of their stores? Just seems like store closings just delay the inevitable as liquidation is just used to pay off current debt, but the trend is still down for them. Not like Sears is making some revolutionary change to how they do business that would actually get them to turn around anytime soon.

Sears will be done by 2019 at the latest, or whenever their hedge fund CEO gets tired of loaning the company money

Sears Canada is likely a separate corporation, but I know they're on their last legs. The clearance center in my city is shutting down this year, and they closed a call center that was here a few years back. They have one location downtown that never seems too busy, but the merchandise is cluttered and disorganized. They also have a Sears home store that seems to be doing g okay, but that's really about it.

I used to work for Sears Canada for 6 years (1 year mall retail store and 5 years in an appliance Dealer store). We (my boss) shut the store down right before Sears Canada closed the majority of their Dealer stores (we were the highest earning store in the province!). They probably would have not shut us down because of how busy we were but are we glad we got out of that poo poo pile.

There seems to be a pattern of companies building strip malls, filling them with teenage girl fashion stores. Al the stores go belly up or move into the mall that's ten minutes away, then while that strip mall is empty another strip mall is built. And every strip mall is that ugly tan coloured castle theme crap that just saps away any and all personality from the area.

I guess, and this could just be bullshit finance talk at a bar, that they want to distance themselves from a "bank" image so that people don't think the loans they're getting are as "official" as a bank loan, even though the loan itself is just as binding and waaaaaay more predatory.
