Atlus USA announced three 3DS titles, so they will be the ones to carry its carcass: Etrian Odyssey 5 (Fall 2017), Strange Journey Redux (Early 2018), Radiant Historia Perfect Chronology (TBD 2018) now to wait and see if Etrian 6 is a Switch title

They could also go the boring route of letting you map via buttons and a quick menu, maybe one that pops up below like you mentioned. I don't think it would be hard to implement at all, whether they want to go that route or not is a different option. Of course there is always the option of them simplifying it and adding a heavier handed auto map. I don't know how I feel about any of these options. It's fun as heck to scribble a map but maybe doing it with buttons is just as fun? Idk, they can jerry rig something together if they really wanted to though. For the record I've played EO on a tablet once and in a bigger screen, using your finger as input is *fine*
