There is a calculator that tells you how much you will pay in total as you sign up so now I'm hoping that's how much it will be. Plenty of colleagues have used the scheme and have been fine with it In the small print it does state nothing outside of the small print itself will form part of the contract so I'd imagine they can't have hidden sneaky extra fees elsewhere. If not in 12 months there will be plenty of cursing going on

At the end of the 12 months they sent me a letter saying if I'd like to buy the bike it'd cost £120. Otherwise to ignore the letter and they'd ask me again the year after and continue lending me the bike. After 3 years a letter arrived asking if I'd like to buy the bike again with a revised sum of £12. In order to stop the poor lady sending me letters about it I called up, paid my £12 and now own the thing outright.

To celebrate my last speeding ticket being 4 years old and coming off my license last month I managed to get myself a new one If I'm 4 mph over the 'speed awareness course' limit do I have a £100+ fine to look forward to? Or will this count as my first offence and let me do a course? Annoyingly I saw the fucker and I was sure that I had slowed down as I was following someone else

Most of the time nowadays I stick to 10% over according to GPS - passed plenty of cameras and I've not got caught yet. If I'm going quicker than that I've made a conscious decision that I'm enjoying myself enough that I won't mind catching a ticket. *in the UK that means if you get caught again you'll be looking at a ban unless you are lucky.

I am getting the itch to buy a new lens for my camera to tinker with. It is a crop sensor Canon. I have a 50mm/f1.8 which gets a lot of action now. I am considering a pancake lens, the 24mm looks fun and cheap. I am wanting to mainly do portraiture and take pics of cars. Should I go that path? I am not ready to hurl $700+ on lenses until I master my crop sensor camera and equipment. I will one day like to go bonkers with L glass and a full frame camera. I just am not there yet.

I know contact chat was a couple days ago, but I just heard about these guys.... https://www.hubblecontacts.com/ FDA approved contacts for $30/month. Doesn't look like they do toric lenses for that price (no surprise there), but that's 1/2 the price I'm currently paying for J&J Acuvue lenses. You may need to appear in court where you would be fined between 75% and 125% of your weekly income. Between four and six penalty points will be added to your licence or you would be banned from driving for between seven and 28 days. http://www.which.co.uk/reviews/cars/article/speeding-tickets-explained

spog posted:I've got some really lovely news for you: I'd seen that. I'm hoping they save the meanest penalties for people with lots of points. I technically have a clean license and its not like it was 130mph or at 3pm outside a school (its at 7pm near a cemetery and the national speed limit sign would be visible in frame opposite my car if it were winter and the trees had no leaves on).. InitialDave posted:The NIP arrived within the 14 day limit, yes? Probably going to get an offer for the fixed penalty with the aforementioned £100 and 3 points. I'm not hugely worried as going by my payslip from May i'm looking at £150-£250 for 75-125% of my weekly income (I run my own company and technically at this point this financial year i'm making a loss as I've got a shitload of big invoices outstanding!). I can't imagine it will affect my insurance since I still had my last one on my last renewal. I'd like to post the picture they took but the police website says i'm not allowed to share it, which is a bit unreasonable since its a photo of me in a public place. My car is at the back of a queue of cars behind a pickup towing a mini digger. I'd like to see what the other people got caught at if i'm doing 46mph at the back of the queue

The target (a piece of your car) would just be super tiny in the viewfinder to be still for long enough to get a lock, especially freehanded. We were pretty routinely getting under 500m though. The oncoming drivers would have easily been able to see us before they were painted. I mean, who doesn't slow down for a white car parked on the road up ahead with a couple guys wearing safety vests in front of it.

From what I understand 1km is the maximum range they can be used, but seeing as they have to spot and target you first its less likely they would get you at that distance. Tomarse, I think Dave is right that you will probably just get 3 points, so it likely isn't worth fighting, but if you wanted to PePiPoo might be worth a look - it has a better signal to noise ratio than pistonheads.
