That's because a generation-plus of pop culture and political "rhetoric" has made it socially acceptable to cheer for the extermination of California and its people in a variety of natural disasters and manmade atrocities.

I have proposed, in the past, that the NBA should disperse the Warriors throughout the league instead of allowing them to remain in Golden State. Here are some of my reasons:

In the early stages of ball, the league will require skilled players and ballers of various kinds, including jump shooting personnel. These persyns are disproportionately concentrated in Golden State. Moving them to the East will be a practical way to address an urgent need.

Tech culture is almost totally reactionary. There is little worth saving in tech culture. It would be better to force Golden State to assimilate to the more culturally and politically advanced peoples of the Eastern Conference. There is also historic justice in forcing Golden State to assimilate, just as they destroyed so many other teams and fanbases.

There are historical precedents for relocating large numbers of players. Handfuls of ballers were forced to move after the NBA expansions in Vancouver and Toronto. Even enemies like the Golden State Warriors agreed that it was necessary to move players off teams that were needed for Grizzlies, Bobcats, Raptors, and others.

The league is also owed big reparations. An excellent way to make those reparations is to put the Warriors personnel to work building infrastructure in the Eastern Conference: scouts, coaches, front office managers, salary cap experts, draft picks. Players can also compete on Eastern Conference teams and floors to expand production for the purpose of Basketball Reasons.

That's the downfall of a jumpshooting league, games are random like football now. Cavs missed 15 open 3's in the corner by good shooters.

The worst part about the Warriors going 16-0 is everyone is going to forget they beat up on literally 3 injured teams before facing a team with a < 3 SRS and think they're good.

the trick to make sure the warriors situation never happens again is to let MVP winners immediately choose to opt out of their contracts in order sign maxes. thus, no more discount MVPs. it'll also functionally never happen because most MVP winners will already be signed to max contracts (though i guess the max goes up every year, but i stand by my idea).

16-0 would matter. 16-1 would not. (15-4 would very matter but the odds are probably 101010abs(x)+2:1 against that happening - possibly in inverse power tower or similar infinitesimal territory).

If 16-0 happens, how it happens will not matter.

I mean, this only happened because of a big salary cap jump AND Curry being locked up while suffering chronic ankle issues AND Durant cravenly ring-chasing while still in his prime. I don't think you have to do anything to prevent it from happening again.

But I do think it would help if people stopped measuring greatness through Ringzzz because this GS could (and has) won a ring without Durant, so him joining them and winning a ring really should not be that glowing an accomplishment. But now people will be like "count the rings Durant owns" when he actually is amazing but not because he joined GS and won stuff

Just like how everyone discounts the Cavs' epic comeback win last year because steph and bogut were hurt and draymond was suspended oh that's right no one in Cleveland or anywhere gives a flying gently caress *flashes ring*

if watching so much basketball has taught me anything, its that its very hard to objectively assess anything in the NBA.

counting stats are terribly overrated, rings are overrated, arguments across eras are stupid as hell, teammates matter, and team systems/coaching matter.

but i realize i'm not the target audience. neither is pretty much anyone who posts online about basketball. the market is the casual audience who don't know anything about the sport.

therefore, to the vast majority of the world, kevin durant will most likely live on as a vital piece to one of the, if not the, greatest teams of all time.

even though he's a total pussyass bitch who joined the team he was up 3-1 to in the WCF, with the reigning 2 time MVP, and who had been in the finals the preceding two years.

unfortunately, people. won't. care.

Blame the nbapa and the league for loving up the revenue calcs and allowing this to happen if you wanna get mad.

Lebron didn't win anything without his banana boat buddies or a playing for a team that had a ton of #1 picks. Who cares, Lebron is incredible.
