Wistful of Dollars posted:CTS and CT6 do/will have nice deals on the used market in 2-3 years. Maybe. I got my '13 Audi A4 for half of new MSRP this year. CTSs of the same year, miles and comparable trim level were going for several thousand $ more. Used cars are still really expensive And goddamn Camry etc. prices were also way higher than one would expect.

The Korean press embargo on the Stinger is up. The 3.3t can scoot from 0 to 100 kph in 4.9 seconds (!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR02618mOnU&t=189s (Timestamp is ~3 minutes if the embed doesn't work correctly) The other videos seems to show a lot of K900 rubbing off on the Stinger, and a fastback roof that doesn't intrude in passenger headroom nearly as much as the A5 / 4 Series sportbacks.

Why is this thing so drat fat? Being RWD makes it about 200lbs heavier than an Optima with the same engine, okay. Then bumping up to 3.3l tt adds 250lbs? I guess it's not super unreasonable but I really don't want a 4,000lbs car with 19" wheels on the kind of lovely streets I sometimes deal with. Edit: vv but a new Mustang GT has a hell of a lot more power doesn't it? I mean the Imapala SS weighs similar but that's a lot more powerful too, and maybe a little larger? The answer to your question would be I don't know because to see what's comparable I'd have to see their pricing in America first. I was hoping that in the world of 4 door RWD cars with under 400hp this would be better than whatever else is available. If it's just the same that doesn't really get me to buy one, at least new. davebo fucked around with this message at 21:26 on Jun 7, 2017 |

Can you get anything remotely comparable that weighs significantly less? the 4 banger AWD is comparable in weight to my Mustang GT. Everything's fat now, I don't know why people insist on acting like this is news.

After checking I'm actually seeing the current GT's weight as 3705 lbs. With 435hp and still getting 25mpg highway? That's pretty good. Hell if they made a Mustang GT Wagon I'd have one of those.

Yeah this isn't a stripped out sports car, it's a well equipped grand touring sedan that strikes a balance between performance and comfort. The fact that it weighs around 4K lbs is completely unsurprising. I was recently watching the motortrend video on the new Ferrari gtc4lusso and that thing weighs 4500lbs. Why? Because putting luxury comfort feature and safety equipment into a medium sized performance car makes it heavy but it's worth it if you want a grand tourer. They talked about how the doors actually feel nice when you close them and how it has double pane glass to quiet down the interior. Not things you do when you are trying to shave weight but perfect if you want to spend all day bombing down the road in it.

This car is supposed to be taking on luxury brands but I don't actually want a luxury car. I just want my current Optima to be RWD and have ~350hp. I heard that Kia are making more stripper-spec models for Australia with cloth seats but obviously we won't get anything like that here.

I mean let's not beat around the bush, it's impressive the BMWs are that light. There's got to be a lot of carbon and aluminum to get cars with all those luxury features at those weights. The stinger looks cool, but I imagine they aren't quite 5 series well equipped.

The one time I saw a guy actually do well with a corvette on the track had his brake pedal sink to the floor and him go off track because of it. I've always thought corvettes were cars for fat old men to drive to and from the icehouse every sunday (same with most harleys). That day did little to change that opinion. Most of them are to scared of the car's off-idle power to really give it the beans.
