Deep despair alive.

UKC has massive queues, Labour have made a real attempt to take Canterbury and the yougov seat projectors gave them a chance.

If anything Sheffield Hallam, Clegg's seat, looks somewhat weak.

I wouldn't say age is the new predictor of likelihood of voting, young people have voted less than old people forever, including the Boomers when they were young and spending all their time smoking joints and marching for free love and socialism.

Dear Paul,

I've just got off the phone with Jeremy Corbyn.

We've both decided that this whole politics thing was clearly a massive mistake, and have agreed to abolish the government forever and just sit around in our rooms crying ourselves to sleep and drinking.

Please encourage your friends and family to do the same.

Its sad to say, but the past 2 years of politics has really ruined some of my friendships. I am still cordial to them in general but every time I am around them I am just thinking about how in reality I know they are selfish bastards who only vote the way they do because they feel that they have no need of public services and anyone that does use them is leeching scum in their eyes.

I wish this sort of thing didn't matter in regards to my personal friendships but it does.

The other side to it is the people who know the Tories are evil scum but are voting for them anyway because they believe all the rhetoric about Corbyn from the biased media outlets. I still like them well enough but I have lost a lot of respect for the people who fall into that category.

The Scum's Hillsborough disaster "reporting" should have put that garbage out of publication decades ago.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2004/jul/07/pressandpublishing.football1

quote:

It was more than 15 years ago and still some shops boycott the Sun - such was the calamitous effect of the Sun's front page claims that Liverpool fans urinated on police, pick-pocketed dead victims and prevented brave PCs giving the kiss of life to some of the victims at Hillsborough.

quote:

According to the book he pondered two headlines, one that was rejected reading "You Scum", and the one that was eventually used - and was to prove the biggest disaster for the paper's reputation and sales: "The Truth".

A team of about 18 journalists and photographers had been sent to cover the story, and although reporter Harry Arnold sought out MacKenzie to caution against reporting allegations as truth, MacKenzie pressed on.

Having decided to lay the blame on the fans' doorsteps, there was no stopping him.

Under the headline "The Truth" there were three subheadings:

Some fans picked pockets of victims
Some fans urinated on the brave cops
Some fans beat up PCs giving the kiss of life

The story read as follows: "Drunken Liverpool fans viciously attacked rescue workers as they tried to revive victims of the Hillsborough soccer disaster, it was revealed last night.

"Police officers, firemen and ambulance crew were punched, kicked and urinated upon by a hooligan element in the crowd.

"Some thugs rifled the pockets of injured fans as they were stretched out unconscious on the pitch.

"Sheffield MP Irvine Patnick revealed that in one shameful episode a gang of Liverpool fans noticed that the blouse of a girl trampled to death had risen above her breasts.

"As a policeman struggled in vain to revive her, the mob jeered: 'Throw her up here and we will **** her'"

The Sun is literally not stocked by most Liverpudlian newsagents, and Sun journos are banned from all sorts of Liverpool FC stuff.

Just finished a GOTV list in Battersea. Did a whole council estate with a friend - people seem upbeat and they loving despise the Tories. Got a blind guy a lift to a polling station and told a bunch of people they don't need their voter card to vote.

Going to have a beer now.
