Why on earth would Mercedes ditch Bottas? He's overperforming in the role they expected him to do and making up WCC points when Lewis is having his lovely days along with a win so far. Why would Alonso go to Renault? That team is in dire needs of severe rebuilding and they'll be hampered by the underpeforming Renault engines. Meanwhile you have Williams with one of the chief architects of Mercedes domination, Paddy Lowe, over there and Mercedes engines. I can very well see a scenario of Alonso/Stroll with Williams squeezing Daddy Stroll for every penny he has to offset Alonso's salary. Hell, I don't even think Alonso would even want a full blown retainer at this point. He's swimming from his Ferrari and McLaren pay days and can easily take a paycut in order to be in a competitive car.

You know what would be a paycut in a competitive car? Indy Joking aside, he'll probably have a clause in whatever contract he signs that would allow him to do the 500 and Le Mans most likely than not if anything.

I fully expect Mercedes to win in Canada. A big power circuit, I don't think the Ferrari quite has quite the power Mercedes does.

Not even vaguely bold prediction: Lewis will fail to get his tires into range again and he'll be very petulant. Bottas will do fine.

And because there's bugger all young Red Bull drivers knocking on the door now, they're unlikely to try and ditch him and give him the easy way out either

This is his extra year after Red Bull took up the option to continue on in 2016. I know Renault is very much interested in him so we'll see how it plays out.

That contradicts literally everythin he's said including the bit where he said he's spent 16 years honing his skills for F1 and his priority is F1. I'm not saying he wants to go, clearly he would rather be racing for the championship but he's not going to be able to do that if he can't get in a Mercades or Ferrari. Racing flat out in equal machinery in Indy, even if it is easy mode for him, has got to be better than pootling about at the back in a car that might poo poo the bed at any given moment.
