Nah, not stuff that's said here but on the other discussions I've seen around the net, not here. I was reading some board or other and the conversation went from "maybe this Richard is Audrey's son" to "well she would have been in the hospital after the bomb in the bank and security seemed pretty lapse" in about 5 posts and stayed on that theme to that point where you start using the page down key rather than the scroll wheel.

I hope it's neither. Audrey's one character I feel was wrapped up pretty well in the original run. Fell in love with the Agent, went too far, got knocked back gently and found love elsewhere. The only remaining resolution with her character is whether she is alive and the book gave us that one. Her name was thrown around a lot as the possible owner of the big New York camera box thing and I don't really like that idea either, I'd rather see some other character introduced to widen the scope of the story. I'd like there to be more people interested / aware of the Lodges and whatnot than just people from the original run.

The obverse of this are the also endless discussions about how Tamara's characer is just a patriarchal indulgence from Lynch that only serves our male gaze pleasure and that's why she has long shots of walking like a female NPC from GTA Vice City (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VODNDjXuMhE). This then goes much further and gets mixed up with her personal career in that her band is bad, her live performances underwhelming, that she was only casted, again because of Lynch's preverted lustful indulgences, etc. So yeah, you get crazy lunatic fans of all types.

Lynch wrote a scene where a character directly makes fun of the character he plays for picking Preston just because she's hot. It's obviously indulgent but he's got a sense of humor about it and it's not that bad.

For sure and what those critics would ignore is that even tho Lynch obviously is pretty attached to the female form, he's always complicated this issue to the utmost consequences. It's even hard to find a work of his that doesn't explore the pitfalls of lustfulness and male sexual domination.

I really wish she was a notch above pornstar acting level because it's a drat shame to have this actress portray the character who apparently could connect the dots on so many classified documents in the Secret History book. Why even bother writing that it was her if she's going to act like she's hearing all these names for the first time.

Fados posted:The obverse of this are the also endless discussions about how Tamara's characer is just a patriarchal indulgence from Lynch I've been trying to compose my thoughts on this for a few minutes now and it occurred to me that this is coming from a thing that's based on the character of Laura Palmer, probably the most intimate and intricate exploration of an individual sexuality that's ever been put on screen. And I laughed. I think Lynch has always been good at presenting a deeper and more real take on sexuality than other media usually provides and Twin Peaks did a lot in the original run to parody and mock the TV norm of beautiful people in dramatic situations. I like how Lynch can include boneheaded male rear end gazers and proclaim "fix your heart or die" about a transgender character in another scene. It's almost like these characters are supposed to be people. Modrasone fucked around with this message at 23:32 on Jun 8, 2017 |
