Seriously where did all this upswell of Labour support come from all of a sudden? Was May's misstep of suspending rights really that much of an impact? Because if that happened in America we would be like, welp, as long as abortion is made illegal or minorities are deported you got my vote...

Someone on Twitter pointed out an interesting detail: English Votes for English Laws will apply to these new Scottish Tories, which could make passing domestic legislation very difficult if its a narrow result.

Hopefully these youth voters inspired by Corbyn will now form the base of Labour support in the future. That would be pretty loving awesome. Corbyn has single-handedly, and against great opposition, reversed two decades of declining Labour fortunes.

I think part of it might be the "disruptive bastard" vote. That's what swung Brexit - if you give people a choice between "More of the same please" and "Shake things up a lot" there's a non-zero number of people who'll go for the latter. But more seriously, just look at the campaigns, and the manifestos. There was NOTHING to get excited about in Theresa May's manifesto, and a shitload of good stuff in Jeremy Corbyn's. And his party stopped campaigning against him for two months.

I'm American but I think the kippies (to the extent that they swung to Labour) were swayed by the focus on policing cuts + bullshit arms deals with the Gulf states. Those are real issues that also speak "their language," I'd guess they're responsible for more votes than anyone would know
