qhat posted:Libdems were standard student vote material since they were all about abolishing/capping tuition fees, that is until they got into bed with the tories in 2010 and tripled tuition fees. Essentially the libdems destroyed an entire generation's support for them forever. I still don't know what the gently caress was going through Clegg's head that made him decide to take that vote.

Picnic Princess posted:I don't know much about UK politics but I've been following the election because I give a poo poo about the impact of national politics' effect on the world stage, so can I get a rundown on why Nick Clegg was such a shithead and why it's so awesome he lost? I already posted it hours back, but essentially he hosed his party over by convincing them it was a good idea to side with a pig fucker and convince them to vote for things they were against. More recently, he's been half arsing on his commons voting (even though he's generally on the right side of things now), and locals around here are fed up with the lack of reasonable representation.

Bit annoying on the face of it though that votes for Leftish parties is a fair bit higher than conservative parties, but FPTP means a wobbly Tory government still, albiet one that's may need to stay in the common market. The higher taxes, higher minimum wage, nationalised Railway isn't happening any time soon despite this being on the face of it a good result.

Corbs looks knackered bless him. Someone on the BBC said that Labour might not have a choice whether to try and get a minority government if the Tories can do it first, but he's certainly not ruling it out is he?

Gen.
