Bounced off of this at some point in the past during some free weekend. Once the full pack comes out and I see if I actually get anything off for having the base game, I might just join in. Maybe having a coordinated team will make me like this more.

AAAAA! Real Muenster posted:It will. Get in Discord and you will have better luck finding a group of 4 competent people to play with. Very much this. Sadly even with the tutorials, the game has a high learning curve for certain things, but once you cross that hump, the game is VERY enjoyable and great RPG/FPS/Co-op wise.

I'm interested, but me paying $45 for the DLC is probably not going to be worth it. I thought I might as well grab the free edition, since...free. That price point was what was making me hold off on the DLC sale, as the price of me buying the base game and the DLC would be similar to just the full DLC edition anyways. I'll have to see what my finances are when it comes out, as well as if there is any discount for just having the base game.

There's plenty of stuff just in the base game (plus the community items) - ten perk decks, a number of high tier weapons, and if I count right 34 heists. You can get by just fine without it if you're unsure.

I'll decide whether the price is worth it when the time comes. How do I get into the Discord? It seems like this one is bit more private.

So my interest in this game has been rekindled. Is there any benefit for infamy stuff? I've only just now found a more optimized skillbuild for my style and it'd suck having to grind it all the way there again. Also, this happened.

I don't think I've ever seen more than 50,000 players at once.

So, since a lot of new people are coming by, here's a few quick tips for you. - Use perk decks. On your inventory screen, go to the bottom option on the leftmost column - the one under your skills. The XP you've earned so far will give you a number of points you can use to fill in a perk deck. They're sets of bonus skills, mostly defensively oriented. You'll have roughly enough points to complete two decks per 100 levels of play. Concentrate on one deck at a time - it's ALWAYS better to have a full deck than a partial one. Muscle (the second one down) is a good starter choice - it gives you a bunch of extra health as well as passive health regen. It's strong and easy to use. - Initially you're going to have pretty limited money and few if any weapon mods to work with. Don't sweat it. Once you get a bit of cash, good gun choices for newbies would be: the M308 is a great high damage, single-shot marksman's rifle; the JP36 is basically your starting AMCAR +1; the Locomotive 12G is an excellent all-around shotgun for your secondary slot; the KSP 58 is a great high capacity bullet hose; the Krinkov SMG is one of the best SMGs in the game; the Bronco .44 is a cheap, high damage revolver. You'll fairly quickly get all the weapons you could want, it's just the start that's a bit slow. - For skills, you can spec in and out of them for free as long as you're not mid-heist. Experiment! Good early skills to take: in Tank (under Enforcer), put four points into Resilience (to reduce the effect of flashbangs), and two into Transporter (makes you faster while carrying loot bags); in Artful Dodger (under Ghost), put one point into Duck and Cover (for faster movement and more stamina) and two into Parkour (for more movement speed). Pick a weapon and take a bunch of stuff from that tree (Sharpshooter for single shot guns, Shotgunner for shotguns, Oppressor for automatic guns, Gunslinger for pistols). Pick either Ammo Specialist or Medic and put points into that so you can bring a useful deployable. And again, experiment. You lose nothing by trying new stuff. - At the start you're probably best off using whatever the heaviest armor you can is. Lighter armors (even just the suit) can be really powerful, but they tend to require more build knowledge and more risk. - Concentrate at first on learning the map and the flow of the heist. Listen to the announcements and what Bain says to do. When in doubt, pick a higher level goon and shadow them. You can complete any heist on even moderate difficulty with garbage weapons and no skills - knowing the map and the objectives is where the real power is.

I do have more stuff in the OP for beginners these days too, including a link to Vox's gigantic DLC run-down. Never did finish the skill guide though. Also are there permanent links to Discords? These keep running out Plan Z fucked around with this message at 15:02 on Jun 10, 2017 |

The DLC rundown is pretty pointless now since you can't really buy individual DLC anymore if you're talking about the thing I think you are

I'm going to revoke the permanent invite rule, I'll post an invite here. Plan Z, please consider adding it to the OP when you have the time. https://discord.gg/mWeUnvQ I agree that my DLC "reviews" aren't as useful as they were before, but whatevs, I'm still proud of 'em. As a new player, the reviews are pretty helpful, cuz there's kind of an overwhelming amount of content from the get-go.

Vox, you know that's not the way to do this. You need to split up hints to what the real invite link is across every post you've ever made in this thread. Most of them being false leads with no way to tell the difference between them.

So I've decided on a build that I enjoy (vomiting a ton of bullets from a light rifle that gets hella pickup ratios), but I cannot decide if I want to use the AMCAR or the Commando for it. Any wise advice from elder heisters that will help me choose between the two?

Any wise advice from elder heisters that will help me choose between the two? The Commando is almost 100% superior to the AMCAR. Better fire rate, more ammo (both per mag and total), more mods and a much faster reload. Only downside is less stability, but that's trivial to get back since one of the mods the AMCAR doesn't get gives +20 stability.

Of those two, the Commando is the standout. Consider the JP36 as well.

Someone give me a good commando setup that's viable for suit/lbv usage (what isn't these days, but I've been out of meta a while) and I might just pick this silly game back up for some copkilling, because I miss that gun and haven't used it since it got poo poo all over in the great rebalance.

RandallODim posted:*that also isn't frenzerker cuz I like to play like a health damage taking piece of trash Tack on anarchist, lbv, & armor skills (especially bullseye) & play the game like it's halo: your armor is your real health (& if you're doing it right you've got 200+points of it as well as regeneration for damage AND headshots), just don't let it break & everything is gravy. That said, I guess you could try poo poo like silencer skills or even body expertise in place of frenzy/beserker.

Any wise advice from elder heisters that will help me choose between the two? Commando for sure... but have you heard about our bullet vomiting lord and savior, the KSP? With the right build, the only time you'll need ammo from an ammo bag is when you want to take advantage of bulletstorm. The only real drawback is the reload time, but with Bloodthirst and Lock 'n' Load you can cut that time down to next to nothing. The KSP 58 is fine too, however it does have a longer reload to start with (again, not an issue so long as you stab a cop before relaoding)

Just picked up the game and watched a few of the webseries because I'm a huge nerd. Do they uhhh ever reconcile the "We're only taking money the banks stole from the people!" rhetoric in the webseries with the total sociopaths that your characters are in-game? The difference is pretty laughable. The production values aren't bad for the websereries though. A lot better than I expected.
