Hey, I'm one of the devs (William). You're right that Nosk turned out to be kinda underwhelming compared to its buildup. It's because when I came up with the idea of the whole lead-in, we were already wayyy beyond scope but I convinced Ari to let me do it by saying we could make the actual boss fight as simple as possible. I'm glad we squeezed that whole thing in, but yeah it makes for a bit of a dip in quality. I think I'm gonna sneak in a new move for ol Nosk in one of these content packs, try to do the poor guy justice.

It's been really great reading everyone's thoughts on the game by the way! :) I constantly lurk SA so I've been following the thread, but thought maybe I shouldn't jump in too much. I'm super happy people are getting into it though!

This game is gorgeous in every aspect and the only criticism I could possibly offer is that I can't explore the game infinitely and just keep spending time there forever because that's what the game makes me want to do.

I managed to beat that godawful place using Hiveblood and Grubbstone Charm for infiinite health, but man talk about huge jump in platforming challenge from the rest of the game. I don't think I could beat it without abusing those two charms but kind of felt good to beat it finally even though it took me like 2 hours. It's a fairly common metroidvania issue though-- Guacamelee also had some obscene platforming at the end and Ori and the Blind Forest had that bullshit tree escape which was a totally unnecessary jump in platforming difficulty out of no where (I guess the directors cut fixed a lot of that tho)

I was having bad Super Meatboy flashbacks for that entire level. I also played it without any of the blue blood charms so maybe I was doing it the hard way.

Not the blueblood ones, the one that regenerates the last health point lost, and the one that gives Souls when damaged. Was still annoying to wait for health to regenerate before trying again.

I also wish I had something to dump Geos into. I had so much at the end there

What they could put in is a casino or something where you could dump your extra geo because yeah I was a friggin' geo collecting machine at the end but had already bought everything.

Or maybe have excess geo unlock production art or something.

Seriously though, I imagine the game gives you such an immense amount of geo because of the bugstain mechanic. If you're a careful player that always recovers their stain, you won't lose any geo and can buy everything pretty quickly. But I imagine the devs didn't want the game to become frustrating for players that frequently died, so the game gives you a large amount of geo to ensure that even if lose your stain a bunch it won't matter in the long run.

We don't need to have that dialogue because it's obvious, trivial, and has already been had a thousand times.

I was honestly surprised that didn't turn out to be his function. I kept assuming at some point he would start selling collectible masks that would let you gain access to blocked areas or make you look like somebody's long-lost lover or something and unlock lore dialogue.

Those flying red bugs that fire those 3 shots that somehow always manage to hit me may be the most annoying and worst enemies in this game. loving laser accuracy there and always flying too far out of reach.

Yeah, I got 100%, did all the optional stuff, and I'm playing through steel soul mode and I'd consider myself pretty adept and agile but the primal aspids (those things) still somehow tag me every time.

YES! Exactly. Somehow those 3 shot are always perfectly spaced so that at least one hits me every. single. time.

The only thing as annoying was how the Broken Vessel always managed to land directly on top of where I was dodging to before I'd even decided to dodge there.

Imo you're so wrong. White palace was too much of a jump in difficulty from everything else in the game. I would have really preferred more benches and not starting from the bottom of sawblade shaft again and again and again.

RE: Custom map pins: It's something we really wanted to get in there, but we just ran out of time. Development was down to the wire, I remember I added the system where the location of your Shade appears on the map like a day before release haha. But! We've got more content packs coming up so we're gonna see if we can squeeze custom map pins in. Conceptually it's not too difficult it just takes a little bit of time to set up and test.

Almost every design decision in the game is intentional, but there were a few places were we omitted something due to short-sightedness or just running out of time. That's the type of stuff we're happy to tinker around with. We also get a lot of people asking for easy mode but dunno if we'll ever do that.

You don't "need" the lantern for anything, as long as you can make the right jumps by muscle memory. The speedrun route skips the lantern entirely.

There are plenty of us who had a great time beating it without using Hiveblood. It's an optional area gating a minuscule amount of content that you don't need to play if you don't enjoy it. Hiveblood is being proposed as a decent alternative for those people who for some reason want to beat it even though it's not their kind of gameplay. I happened to think that a certain Mr. M was bullshit, so I changed my experience to suit me (I looked it up online), and I probably would've just ignored him and moved on if I couldn't have done that.
