What's the issue with that? It's barely to the left of Miliband. Dare I say it even attempts a bit of triangulation with the triple lock, free tuition and maintaining benefit cuts.

It's pro-nationalisation.

Ish. It's pro gradual nationalisation of the railways over about three governments, and pro creating a state owned option for power companies. Hardly the revival of clause 4.

Even that's a huge bridge too far for corporate interests though. "I might nationalize a few things one day" is how you get the State department scrambling to get rid of you if you're in a South American country.

i always heard that other countries don't have nearly as big a selection of ready meals (microwave meals?) and that ours are nicer

So I see some fries, a mysterious puff pastry-lookalike that might be a burger or a pot pie, the world's worst and wettest mac and cheese, and the foam my stereo speakers came packed in with some soggy garlic-coated Wonder Bread.

English cuisine!

To a point. But it's sticking to areas where other moderate left and centrist countries feel that state ownership is appropriate.

It is absolutely socialist, but it's hardly radical socialism in the way that the return of clause 4 would be, or instant nationalisation of rail companies, or all the power/water companies would be.

the british government is meant to be a neutral arbitrator, which it can't be if the government is depending on one of the parties of the agreement to stay in power
