I'd been seeing poo poo like that on tumblr for a while now and it took me a long time to find that it's a terrain generator called world machine which looks fuckin' 95 as gently caress BUT the output is pretty good and modern that and cycles the new blender renderer cycles is such a nice renderer. I miss some of the flexibility given by luxrender but end of the day results go to cycles by far

oh and discovering post processing. blender has an excellent compositor tbh. node based is the way to go, layers like in photoshop is such a tired excuse for composition IMO
