Crosby played out of his mind pretty much all playoffs and came back from a concussion. He def deserves the Conn Smythe.

Also Staal and Girardi suck and there will be far better options for Vegas even if they are looking to take bad contracts to get to the cap floor so why would Vegas even take them. And I thought I read that waiving nmcs/ntcs for the expansion draft is only for the expansion draft, and not a waiver for all future transactions. So basically, who cares

I'm not thrilled at the cap hit for a buyout either.

The Golden Man posted:I think vegas's blue line/goal situation is gonna be pretty fuckin good Ya for sure. I don't think they'll be able to get a real number 1 guy but they should be able to get six guys who could normally play second pairing if they want and that's pretty good. Their forwards are going to suck rear end though.

The hit for Staal is atrocious and they're probably better off playing him as the 3rd left D rather than buying him out for now but blaaaaaaaah. I'd be fine with buying Girardi out at this point if it meant forcing some new blood into that right side and that maybe McDonagh could finally play with a decent partner and him being Really Goddamn Good would finally be apparent without having to look past one of the biggest anchors in the league weighing him down

https://twitter.com/BlueJacketsNHL/status/874282987344596992 That's an alright start. Lots of jersey to mess up still, though. Speaking of that team, have my prediction for their protected list: Forwards (7): -Saad -Dubinsky -Foligno -Hartnell -Atkinson -Jenner -Wennberg Defensemen (3): -Jones -Savard -Murray Goaltender (1): - Exempt: Werenski (the Calder Cup run last year was on an ATO, I think).

I'm honestly not sure who exactly Benning will protect. F: D. Sedin (NMC) H. Sedin (NMC) Eriksson (NMC ) Horvat Baertschi leaving 1 forward... I'm hoping he doesn't protect Sutter, and opts for Boucher, but he probably will protect Sutter if only so he can try to trade him (lol, he isn't even going to try) D: Edler Tanev Probably Gudbranson G: Markstrom obv

I think the Devils will probably go with 4 d because honestly I'm not sure they have 11 players worth protecting and their D is super thin as it is: F: Hall Palmieri Zajac Henrique D: Greene Severson Moore Lovejoy G: Schneider They probably lose Beau Bennett in this situation unless Vegas really wants to gamble on Camnalleri. Also it looks like Alexander Kerfoot is not gonna sign with the Devils and instead test free agency which obviously sucks for the Devils!

seems like Bennet would be more of a risk given his injury record - maybe Vegas takes cammilleri for poster-boy/veteran stuff?

coyotes: Rieder Duclair Vrbata Martinook Burmistrov Doan Richardson Ekman-Larsson Goligoski Murphy Domingue I think in this case Smith is obviously the best player available on the coyotes. From a GM standpoint he's got 2 years left on his deal and probably gets another one to take him to age 39-40ish, and vegas might not want to pick a guy that's right at the end of his career like that when there's younger players and salary dumps available (MAF for real then?). Second would be Connauton who is a fine bottom 4 pairing guy but didn't really pan out beyond that, plus next year he's a UFA and probably doubles his salary.

Are there any rules that require Vegas to keep the players they take for any length of time? If not, I have to think they are going to turn around and deal a ton of them.

I think the Jets will protect 4-4-1 Scheifele Wheeler Little Perreault or Lowry Enstrom Byfuglien Trouba Myers Hellebuyck Hopefully the Jets don't protect Lowry over Perreault. Perreault is a legitimate top line winger and a possession monster, he'd almost certainly be Vegas' best forward (which is kind of sad, they are going to have a terrible offence) I think a Raanta deal to Winnipeg before expansion makes a lot of sense too, the Jets reportedly were on of the final teams that were interested in him back when he was a FA

I haven't seen a Penguins protection list yet so I'll take a shot: Forwards: Crosby Malkin Kessel Rust Sheary Hornqvist Wilson? (I don't think they'll protect Hagelin) Defensemen: Letang Dumoulin Schultz Goalie: Murray My only fear is that JR will choose to protect Ian Cole. e: A hilarious way to do Jultz a solid would be to protect him and if Vegas takes him, give him a huge offer sheet which Vegas will match because they have tons of cap space Eric the Mauve fucked around with this message at 15:02 on Jun 13, 2017 |
