there's a psychoacoustic phenomenon where if you aren't exposed to certain language sounds (or linguistic distinctions) at a young enough age, it can be extremely difficult or impossible for you to identify them as an adult. so if someone hasn't grown up hearing ö or something like it, they won't be able to hear the difference between ö and the most similar-sounding vowel in their accent, acting as if the two sounds are literally the same. compare japanese speakers having difficulty with R and L, hindi V and W, etc. anyway this is a stupid discussion bc jerry cotton doesn't realize that the game trailer is literally using that song, and that's just how the singer sings it for whatever reason. plenty of americans know how to say schön.

they have full size control room simulators and I've always hoped that someday I can convince someone that it would be a great "team building exercise" and then go run scenarios in one.
