For the record the biggest split I can think of outside of the SMP-SKYP split is SDP splitting into the Skog faction and the mother party. This sort of thing at this scale is rarer than unscheduled elections.

So do I have this right: Soini and his boy Packalén keep all the money, but all the new money goes to Halla-Aho and his stalwart band of Super-Hitlers fighting for a free and pure Finland?

Too early to tell anything about anything, but a couple of observations: This is not really good for the credibility of the cabinet. A majority of 106 might be workable, but how's the group discipline now? Their main unifying factor is that they hate Halla-aho and his band of troglodytes, and there's really nothing to keep them in line anymore. It's twentysomething political corpses who probably are not going to get re-elected ever again. But hey, Sipilä's an incompetent so he doesn't realize this looks bad. Doesn't change a thing about sote being dead in the water. We'll probably see Halla-aho and Vistbacka going to court over who gets to keep the money. Also, Mika Niikko is not even a Halla-aho supporter but since absolutely no one likes his bible-thumping rear end no one invited him for the party. That's probably the best detail.

Rexroom posted:What points would they be, and in what way have the other parties ignored them? For instance determining some hard numbers regarding the capacity of Finland when receiving refugees. Simply admitting that integration hasn't been working. Discussing the good and bad aspects of various cultures and how compatible they are. In my opinion, these are very much taboo subjects a bit like criticising the idea of eternal economic growth. Could be just my bubble, but I can't remember any civilised public discussion regarding these topics. Ignoring these matters is what brings popularity to some thorough idiots because they're the only ones talking about the subject at all. Hyssyttely and fearmongering-mongering is not the solution. If there is no debate because the other side is supposedly racist (hint: we all have prejudices to various groups) and therefore not worthy of discussion, you can't expect people to take you seriously. The way kok and kepu talked about refusing government cooperation with the new (old?) leadership is a prime example of it. They talk nonsense about values, implying that they have good ones while the others have just hatred in their hearts. I would've been happy if they said that "persus think that we should only take in a maximum of 1000 refugees per year and that number is too low for us" or something. Or I suppose one might think that the current situation regarding refugees and imimgrants is totally fine and in control and therefore any action or discussion can only cause harm, but I wouldn't agree with that. Weird foreign people are going underground after getting told to leave. Many poor bastards have to wait for far too long for a decision about whether they can stay. The massively one-sided gender distribution of the people coming in will cause depression and other problems in all the men who can't find a partner. Finding work for people who don't speak Finnish or English is going to be a nightmare. I'm sure other people have found numerous other problematic aspects of this whole circus. Even here I can't remember seeing any satisfying answers to these issues. Even proper acknowledgements that "yeah, pretty much nothing can be done about this" would be more satisfying than the typical blamestorm and name-calling that starts up when someone brings these up. As I've said before, I really do think we should help as many people as we can, but it should be done better than this. While most of the actual problems have to do with how people feel about the current situation, bad feelings could theoretically lead to someone like Trump getting a powerful position. I also worry since we already have enough of our own backwards-thinking people hampering political progress. It is naive to think that people who come to live here would leave their attitudes and opinions in their country of origin. If I'm completely wrong and there have been some thorough debates regarding these subjects, please again educate me.

Kike Elomaa of Uusi Vaihtoehto was interviewed in YLE, and she said one of the main reasons why they left TF was more or less to do with how the Nuiva-wing weren't for the "human side" of TF, but would rather concentrate on just immigration issues. This is something what Soini moaned about Halla-aho and his followers, so I guess that's why so many left. Of course it could just be about money, but since TF was a party for various issues, there's probably a significant ratio of people who didn't feel at home with the new management.
