Is Duchene really a five star player? Not to say he isn't pretty good but it seems like he falls short of that descriptor.

I don't really know what you mean by 5-star player but IMO he's probably a top line center on a lot of teams. It's really hard to judge exactly how good he is given the garbage team he's played for for a few years but he still produces a lot. Colorado is going to get fleeced in whatever trade they make.

Colorado. He's quite good and on a decent team maybe tops out as a 30/40 guy. He's definitely better than his 18 goals last year suggest.

Yes but it's going to take 6 years and a NMC to sign him and he's only going to be that good for 3. I think the Rangers aren't that stupid and it will more likely be someone like the Senators or Avs or Hurricanes. I would have listed the Devils there too, but, welp

I think Smith is perfectly good as a 2nd pair guy next to Skjei. I don't think I'd be wanting to pay him $4 mill or so per year to be a 3rd pair guy.

The Smith-Skjei pairing was excellent in the playoffs aside from the penalties and I'd like to see them kept together.

Unless this were some weird wheel and deal thing involving Vegas, if they trade Hischier/Patrick AND other players for Kane, it would be enough to bury my Devils jersey in the yard. Luckily, it's Twitter.

patrick kane has 6 years left on literally the biggest cap hit in the league so you also have to factor in the opportunity cost of signing kane vs the players you could acquire with the difference in cap space between kane and an 18 year old on an elc who will become an rfa under team control

Remember when Girardi was an All-Star? 5 years ago already. Definitely feels like it for him though. It wasn't really until the cup finals in 2014 where I noticed his speed was an issue. I don't feel bad though, 11 seasons is a great run, and he made bank with that contract after the Rangers got to the finals.

There are some real-reporters-but-not-trade breakers on twitter saying that Montreal is trying to do something involving an offer of Galchenyuk and a first. One of the reports said they were targeting Drouin, another said they were targeting RNH+. Making the Drouin trade work would probably be pretty solid for the Habs, but I'd still like it, because I am down with every chaos trade.
