Seeing points like this more often would be nice. However, your post...

... along with these two paint a much clearer picture. I've been all over the US as an on-and-off touring musician, usually as a (no pun intended) hired gun, and I've seen that a ton of people are sick and tired of dealing with gun violence, but there are apparently still a poo poo-ton of people who pretty much worship their gun usage.

Your English is great and I would have no idea without being told that it was not your first language - certainly better than m kitchen Spanish.

It's an incredibly complicated problem. Painting gun ownership as a religion is probably more descriptive than what I put forth, which helps really illustrate how difficult of a thing it is to control legislatively. I shot my first 20 gauge and .22 at 11 years old as a loving boy scout; my first BB-gun at 6 or 7. Gun ownership is absolutely a part of Americana and our national identity; it's hard to understand how no one thought that hhmmmmm maybe this might be a bad thing later on but hey here we are.

There's a lot of work being done to treat outbursts of gun violence as medical epidemics and not a social 'thing' - very interesting in addressing some of the immediate symptoms of urban gun violence. Still does't address some of the root problems which I again believe are largely based in mental illness, but may be out best bet in the immediate since lol gathering all guns up and melting them down will never happen. Anyway som good links:

Existing research on GSWs to the hip were done based on a population sample that has been overwhelmingly young (in a study of 2.8k the mean age was 30.3 years) and shot with lower energy handgun rounds. Scalise is 51 and got hit a more energetic round that can cause more complications.

"Critical" just means that he needs more monitoring and is in an ICU. That's pretty standard after a surgery, depending on what was done. "Stable" just means that you aren't changing. He's probably fine if he was waving to people before he went to the OR.

Shotguns and sub-machine guns ( Think HK MP5-PDW) are better in close quarters.

Pistols are last resort when it comes to combat.

They are most certainly not suitable for use against someone armed with a riffle (assault or otherwise) on a baseball field. They're honestly lucky that the shooter wasn't actually competent. I'd have left at least one dead body (first shot should have been fatal since you have plenty of time to set it up and pick your shot/target) Have some people jumping up with pistols trying to shoot back just means that they'd have to get abandon cover to shoot back with an inferior weapon with limited range.

I've assumed for a long time that this is why the republicans are so committed to keeping it under wraps, it's not just party unity or loyalty or trying to keep their seat. The crazier they seem about it,the more obvious it is that they did something like laundered russian money for campaigns or whatever the gently caress else.

I'm 100% sure that the leaks were caused by two things:
1: Trump not having any friends that WOULDN'T sell him out
2: Trump being the kind of person who tells person after person his ideas until he finds someone who will agree with him that they're good.

That's why we get so many leaks of the poo poo ideas he has: he goes from person to person saying "Hey I'm thinking of doing this", if the first person says "Sir, that's a really bad idea." he'll just go to the next person and say "Hey I'm thinking of doing this" until someone finally goes "Good idea sir!!" the worse an idea it is the more people he has to tell the more likely it will leak because each person he talks to just hears "ka-CHING ka-CHING" every time he talks

If this isn't 100% the way the reality is in the White House I'll eat my hat

Because they're not just gonna say "OK, we found obstruction of justice, job's over", they're going to dig and try to find everything. Was there collusion, was there coercion, was there bribery, is corruption going on, who knew what and when, etc. His charter gives him tons of leeway to look into everything, and he is going to find everything

The DOJ stuff seems pretty important as well for non-white people. And of course the environment stuff is existentially threatening the entire planet, not just American democracy. But the AHCA is probably the sharpest inflection point.

It's absolutely what's going to happen.

In 2010 you have an untalented poo poo show of wannabe politicians who buy their way to office screaming about birth certificates, death panels, and creeping socialism. There is money for them everywhere; a billion faceless PACs that are all willing to shell out 100k, especially to races where that money loving matters; rural states and state level elections.

Where the gently caress did this money in American Freedom Potatoes Neon Evangelion for Freedom 2010? Who the gently caress knows?

Russia has been funding separatist, obstructionist parties all over eastern europe for over a decade.

Why wouldn't they try to do that in the United States, a place where large sums of money have loving constitutional rights.

All you need are a couple of people on the state side to coordinate it, like manafort.

Getting trump in office was just the cherry on the cake, and I think he specifically might not have any idea what happened in the election. I think he's up to his eyes in russian debt, and he might not even fully realize it. Again, I don't know how with it he really is. But guys like Manafort, Stone, NOT page (he just strikes me a lunatic), and Flynn are absolutely on the take or compromised.

Every republican realizes that this light is going to start shining on them. Mitch McConnell flat out told Obama he's turn it into a political witch hunt clusterfuck if he tried to appoint a special counsel after the election to investigate it.

the GOP is going to burn for this.

If, you know, the voters care.

Yeah, I'm can see a spectrum of trump personally knowing he owes them billions and The Tape Is Real, or one of his sons hosed up big time and he's trying to save face.

And that's before we even get to kushner, who likely got a tip from trump that he could get bailed out on 666 5th from Russians.
