My experience of being on the autistic spectrum is difficulty telling when you've hurt or been callous to someone leading to panic and feeling really poo poo when you realise you inadvertently have. Without further evidence, I'm pretty sure May is just a bad person.

Oh gently caress yes, by their own admission the DWP has 43 separate pieces of medical evidence (including the leading UK expert on her condition) to show my wife is as ill as she claims to be yet they still outright lied on her PIP assessment. By contrast the ESA assessment, carried out by an actual doctor, didn't contest any of it in spite of using the same assessment criteria.

Jedit posted:This. A tower block full of working class people just burned down with unknown loss of life because a bunch of Tory voting rich cunts didn't want their view spoiled. Said rich cunts got the Tory landlords to petition the Tory council to approve dangerous plans that were implemented by a cowboy company who even if they didn't slip a brown envelope under the table, cared more about their shareholders than the dead. The Tory landlords then for years repeatedly ignored warnings from their tenants that said plans put them massively at risk of exactly the disaster that happened. This does rely on this actually getting out, of course.

I hope so, but the beeb at least is still talking about May doing a Strong enquiry that might lead to a Stable resolution and vague feel-good "hey look at this kid who helped out!" type stuff. I'm not going to get too optimistic until I see on evening news that there's links to either the tory council or the company that did the work. To be honest it needs to be about the council's fuckup specifically since otherwise this turns into May's "NO PLACE TO HIDE FOR BIG BUSINESS now let's lower corporation tax some more" speech again.

kanonvandekempen posted:I find that completely baffling, like I literally don't understand how this can happen in a modern country. In Belgium, where I live now, the doctor has the final word, period. I have a colleague who has been sick since january 2016, we're not really aware of what she has or if she's ever coming back, but a doctor affirms every 3 months that she has a valid reason for not working and so be it. She receives 80% of her wage every month. If we thought something dodgy was going on we could ask for another doctor to go check up on her but that's it. Forcing people to do a job they can barely do and don't want to do is a one-way ticket to a burn-out - but luckily, burn-outs are probably included in this scheme so they'll just ask you 'well, what can you do with a burn-out?' and go from there.

I am convinced if they'd been truthful and processed my claim correctly I would have been well enough to work within a few months. As it was, the stress of the situation prolonged my mental health issues and ruined my physical health, so on top of the compensation I was given, they ended up paying out more in out of work benefits. Oh, and the "medical professional" who performed my mental health assessment was a newly qualified physiotherapist who'd been on a couple of days mental health training, no exaggeration.
