I honestly don't blame the government for this. I blame capitalism and everyone who profits from it. The government is just a part of that. We're going to need a bigger guillotine.

I don't think you are going to get far laughing at a leader for liking his drink Milos Zeman is a peculiar case of a leader who started as an inspirational leader who raised the left in a post-Communist country from nothing to winning elections, then became obsessed with taking revenge on people who stood in his way and threw away all his political credit in the process. Nowadays he's the kind of person who picks his political positions based on what inconveniences the actual government and nothing else.

Where was @screwlabour when small farms were being compulsorily purchased and paved over with motorways or streets of people's houses bought out and demolished for airport expansions? Does he follow some opposite-of-reality where eminent domain only applies when it's not a case of extreme necessity? If he believed in universal allodial property where nobody was under any obligation to sell and the country was thereby stuck with the old coach roads and towns confined to historical borders and no railroads I could at least accept that as consistent. Idiotic, given the origin of most of that land, but consistent. Surrey Iron Railway riding over Benjamin's property rights. Choo choo.

This spin is pretty disingenuous. Currently asylum seekers are supposed to only be able to seek asylum in the first EU country they arrive in. This doesn't really happen, it's unworkable and puts undue strain on the countries on the borders of the EU. The proposal to punish countries for not taking refugees is part of a scheme to split the burden of initially housing and supporting them across the member states. It's not to force the Eastern European countries to take more refugees, it's to force the rest of the EU to play their part and take a fair share of refugees from them. They would be supposed to take less refugees than now. The countries which would be fined would be ones who refuse to settle their share of refugees. (which of course could be them too if they decide "their part" is taking zero refugees, which I guess is tough luck since most of the EU doesn't want that)
