The difference between species and subspecies is subjective, but I'd say 10-20k years of selection for neoteny and reduced aggression (among other traits) have made dogs different enough from wolves to call them a separate species.

Someone actually make a Kemono Friends RPG prototype in Unity or something? The movement animations are very solid, though the skirt physics need fixing. I think however Fromsoft does capes might be a good solution.
