If I didn't own a PS4, I'd be way more salty about the prospect of non-Japanese speakers not getting a single Monster Hunter game on the Switch. As it stands, I'm just a little salty. Actually Worlds didn't even look that hot to me. Looked too deviant. Maybe that'll turn out to be a good thing, though.

Look, we all know how the cycle of third party support goes when Nintendo releases a new console. Pre-launch, they all pledge undying love and support for Nintendo. One or two actually deliver something the first year or two. Nobody buys those games. The others use that excuse to cancel development of anything in the works. 3rd party support dries up... Will the Switch break the cycle? gently caress if I know, but probably not. Stick with Nintendo games and all the good Indy titles already out and forthcoming.

My prediction is the cycle will continue for the big name third parties as usual, but indies and smaller third parties will thrive on the Switch.

The Switch is reputedly not an absolute nightmare to code for, unlike the WiiU. No streaming to a second screen or insane hardware, just a nice simple nVidia Tegra processor. I have far more non Nintendo games on Switch than Nintendo games. It's just things like Tumbleseed, Bomberman, Snakepass, Puyo Tetris, Blaster Master, Mighty Gunvolt, I am Setsuna, Mr Shifty, Voez, Shantae, Wonderboy, Minecraft, Shovel Knight, Kamiko, Graceful Explosion Machine, World of Goo, and Turf Masters don't "count" because they are cheap or old. Personally I don't care, I have hundreds of hours of playtime between them.

The Switch is gonna have its own ecosystem. I know Nintendo wants every big title they can get, but that's not really on the horizon. We're gonna get ports, indies, and publisher side projects first.

Yeah, I hope that part improves too. I feel like gamers today are much more vocal about port quality, and places like digitalfoundry will publicly rip poorly ported games apart. Not that that will stop a lazy dev completely, but it does put some pressure on them.

I'm not sure the average person cares about digital foundry. I'm pretty in tune with gaming and I don't even give a poo poo. If all you have is a Switch and X game is on the switch, who cares about it's technical misgivings.
