Face/Off introduced very important John Woo gun choreography (esp. the bit where both actors have their pistols braced against the other's forehead) to American film, and Bloodsport was by far JCVD's best movie about a secret fighting tournament, don't even try to compare it to Lionheart or Kickboxer or The Quest or No Retreat, No Surrender

yes I know technically JCVD's Hard Target was Woo's first western film but c'mon

Transformers 3 was the best of the Transformers movies but that doesn't mean much

Malik Monk would be kind of a surprise for the Timberwolves. I think they are far more interested in veteran help at the wing rather than bringing in another young piece there. I would guess they either take Lauri Markkanen in that situation or DSJ (who they have worked out) if he's available as Thibs continues his quest to replace Rubio.

If Isaac falls the Wolves were very interested there, but I think Isaac has a promise at #4.

Portland has so many loving first round picks. You have to assume they trade at least one and maybe two.

I hate Luke Kennard to the Pistons, unathletic wings are scary, they spook me. Players with his run/jump athleticism as NBA starters are rare. I can think of D'angelo Russel, JJ Red Dick and younger Kyle Korver, otherwise you're thinking backups like Nik Stauskas and Tyler Ennis. That means he has to be an elite shooter and a very good playmaker to ever be a starter. Is he?

I'd rather play it safe and go Mitchell or Collins (bleh)/mybe trade with portland and get Anuboby and Hartenstein if they don't like anyone who's mocked 11-14. Mitchell isn't a prototypical starter, but he'd make their bench better and be KCP insurance. i have the same reservations about him now as I did when he rose after combine measurements, but guys with his physical profile tend to do well, and he looks decent on video.

Mitchell was apparently outstanding on open threes in college. I don't really see how he becomes a star but he seems like a pretty safe bet to be a good three + D guy.

I dont see him dropping past Detroit not earlier than Charlotte. So 11 or 12. I think he could be a real good 6th man, which is good value late lottery.

the Sixers sent their own 2017 first-round pick, No. 3, to Boston, as well as the 2018 first-round selection they received from the Los Angeles Lakers as part of a separate deal made at the 2015 NBA trade deadline.

More:

quote:

Of note, however, is that the Lakers’ pick going to the Celtics will come with key protections, covering next year’s first overall pick, and picks 6 through 30. Should the pick ultimately fall in those ranges, and subsequently not convey to the C’s, Boston will then be entitled to the better of either the Sixers' own 2019 first-round selection, or the 2019 first-round pick the Sixers acquired from a July 2015 swap with the Sacramento Kings.

A pivotal protection is in place for this scenario, too, as the Sixers will again be safeguarded from losing the number one pick in 2019.

Unaffected by Monday’s exchange is the four-pack of picks the Sixers hold in Thursday’s second-round, where they’re slotted for Nos. 36, 39, 46, and 50.

edit: also this thread is moving too slow, I have questions.

Can someone who understands the NBA better than me (admittedly very easy to do) explain why Boston isn't going to use all these assets to make a major go at Anthony Davis? That seems logical to me.

Because the Pels have literally no reason to trade Davis and nothing the Celtics can offer for him would be worth it.

Mavs are under the cap, so you don't need to match salary. You only need to match if the trade takes you over the cap.

But I don't know why the Timberwolves would drop down several spots just to give up a player on a pretty good salary. Maybe if Matthews is coming back and you think he'll recover from his Achilles but I dunno.

Trading for one of the most valuable young assets in the league is hard, as it turns out. Everyone in the league would love to trade for Davis, if he were easy to get he would already have been traded.
