Farewell, good Hunter. May you find your worth in the waking world.

While the cop was telling him not to pull it out and already preemptively unholstering his gun out of probably ultra twitchy fear did he say, "well I'm gonna have to pull it out."? I swear he says this right before he gets obliterated. That guy definitely should not have been a cop.

Radio traffic said Yanez pulled over Castile because of they “just look like people that were involved in a robbery” because of Castile’s “wide set nose.”

Yanez said he assumed Castile would be reckless because he smelled marijuana.

“Uh but uh as that was happening as he was pulling at, out his hand I thought, I was gonna die and I thought if he’s, if he has the, the guts and the audacity to smoke marijuana in front of the five year old girl and risk her lungs and risk her life by giving her secondhand smoke and the front seat passenger doing the same thing then what, what care does he give about me?”

e] re that UK spy stuff, is the cops declaring all those deaths accidental or natural like, a deliberate thing while some other agency investigates? It seems fuckin nuts that they're all that scared of investigating anything.

e: loving lol, our idiot hell fucker publications just can't ever get away from the "horse race" narrative can they? the article refers to Russia as a "superpower" which is demonstrably false with even charitable definitions of that word, but boy howdy is the article a more interesting read if the Iron Curtain is threatening to split the west in half again. gently caress

Ironically commies like me would be extremely happy if the USSR still was a potential threat to our bourgeoisie masters but Putin is merely one of the late Soviet shitstains who took advantage of the economic downturn to start stealing everything that wasn't nailed down so uh, I guess Russia could muscle on our eastern europe NATO allies? Maybe?

the way I read it is that there are some ruskies in the know inside MI6 and police. nothing was done when he didn't show up for work for 10 days, long delay between the sister saying he was missing and when they actually called the cops.

it seems to me like russia is just paying the right people a poo poo load of money and asking them keep quiet about what they're doing, and I dont just mean in the UK

So there was not a single voice of dissent on a jury that included two black members on the case of a guy who pulled over a black family because he thought they looked like the criminal type and blasted them?

quote:

Prosecutors in the Yanez case thought they had solid evidence of an officer acting rashly and with excessive force, but what some outsiders saw as an open-and-shut case became a grueling deliberation of the jury of five women and seven men, including two black jurors. Their discussions ultimately focused on the legal definition of culpable negligence, which is required for a manslaughter conviction. Under Minnesota law, it occurs when a person “creates an unreasonable risk, and consciously takes chances of causing death or great bodily harm to another.”

Faced with the choice of deciding that Yanez consciously chose to create unreasonable risk or that he had acted out of fear, instinct and confusion, the jury found that Yanez had acted within the law.

I didn't know it was actually possible to do it and get away with it like that.

Does double jeopardy or whatever come into play? He can't be tried for manslaughter again obviously (and he won't be tried for anything else at all) but technically could they bring him up on some other charges?

Castile was obviously trying to hand him his ID without getting shot, since in the 24 seconds between the cop asking for insurance and license, he hands him the insurance info without any problem, and then next notifies him of a firearm.
