In no particular order, I'd say III, IX and Savini probably. People talk up 2 a lot but his shift being so miserable is a huge drag, even if he's one of the jogging Jasons to try and make up for it.

Then it seems like it's never even a discussion that VII is the worst, the only thing he has going for him is destruction.

Had a great series of matches last night. Managed to wipe out all the councillors as Jason VI, with a satisfying Jarvis toilet kill at the finale (I caught the guy 3 times earlier in the match and he broke free every time).

My councillor games were a little more frustrating because I can never find the phone when I have the fuse.

Activated the retro skin afterwards but never got selected again so didn't get to see it.

VII Doesn't have destruction, Jason VIII does (Manhattan, whom I love to play)

VIII is objectively superior to VII as shift is that much more valuable than sense, the early game pressure of the destruction can be amazing.

Having a weak shift is very bad for Jason VII, because it can impact 2 of his advantages. You wont be able to land those shift-grabs as often to make use of your grip strength. You also won't be able to shift-hit or just shift to chase someone as often, which means they won't be as scared to light up your good sense. Basically you need your two advantages to make up for one really lovely disadvantage. Jason II gets so much mobility thanks to running and morph that it overcomes the bad shift, and opens up other possibilities for him.

On the flip side the water speed on VII and VIII is insane, and entirely negates the boat unless you are not paying attention at all. You absolutely CAN use the water layout in Higgins to move around areas of the map quickly, with the exceptions of Evergreen and the NW cabins.

Playing VII is hard mode, and props to those who do.

Ah yeah I hosed up remembering what VII even has so even worse than what I was posing, VIII is cool though and even if he was terrible, he's still my favorite design so he stays, even if they're both afflicted with the wasted slot that is water speed.

Like really, even the regular Jasons can already outrun the boat, I don't see the point in it existing.

Try moving around the water in Higgins with Jason VIII sometime in the early game between morphs. You'd be surprised how much ground you can effectively patrol. The blue car will be within striking distance (Both Stillwater and Blair's cove car locations are feet from the water - and the Higgins house location isn't far at all from the boat launch.) You can keep all escape objectives under your thumb so long as you have the phone well trapped.

Sadly this only works on Higgins map, as Crystal Lake only has one car spawn near the lake and Packanack has no car spawns close to either of the lakes.

There's a stark difference in tiers between pub games and goon premades. In pubbie games I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 in the lead, he has seven loving traps and pubs love getting trapped and dying. They almost never have the coordination and communication needed in order to kill Jason, and never try, so any health or stun penalties are pretty meaningless. I wouldn't think Savini is very high up there because relatively very few people backed it and odds are that any given hardcore "pro" probably doesn't even fuckin have the skin so he likely rolls with 9, 8, or 3

It's possible it's just luck but I have played Jason 4 out of 6 rounds tonight. I wonder if the game has some sort of weighting now and it's catching me up.

Unrelated I just got a crash alert box pop up while playing as a counselor. The game was still running fine so I just dragged the error to my other monitor and kept playing. About five minutes later the game actually crashed.

Tales from PubLand:

Last night, 3 times in a row, I started the game right where Jason did. Twice as Chad and once as Deb. It's like I started the game with Jason in my back pocket. I quit out but I don't feel bad because I did let Jason get the kill and these were non-talking pub groups.

4th game I'm in a talking group and I'm Savini Jason. They teamed up and just wailed on my rear end as I tried to stop the Deb from using the phone. She succeeds. I pitchfork bashed one of the 5.

3 minutes later, about 5 minutes in, the cops are there, and I go to defend the exit. The mob shows up and I shift-grab one for an eye stab. 3 run out. As I leave yet another firecracker stun, which lasts FOREVER as Savini Jason, I catch the phone Deb in a trap. As I grab her I take a step too far forward and the cops shoot me, causing me to drop her as I slide into the underworld and the game breaks. Deb and the AJ run out. 2 kills, 5 escapes, and I'm under the map.

Round ends and everyone is laughing at me for "teleporting out while I had a choke". Definitely a record shameful performance and weird glitch.

No doubt. I can clear a map in 5 minutes as 3/NES.

7/8/9/Savini rely on building fear over time. (Time the campers can be fixing poo poo)

3 is a loving killdozer. 3 can run down Vanessa. It's hardly a contest.

I was thinking normalized to amount of counselors killed per match played instead of total kills.

I would think Savini belongs to enthusiasts who have been playing hard since beta and generally do well. Also he has great strengths and not too meaningful weaknesses.

Nope. Firecrackers, of which there's a lot of people rolling that perk, can put Savini out for an eternity.

Long enough that if a Vanessa or Chad uses them, you can run farther during the stun than the length of a full speed, unobstructed shift.

Savini goes down HARD from stuns.

What is the deal with some of the music cues in the game? I panic a lot when I hear music because I think it means Jason is near me, but last night with the new NES Jason, it was clear that there's pursuit music, and then some other music that plays from time to time. Can someone who understands this better explain a little bit how the music works?

Savini doesn't have weakness to stuns so it should be normal duration. His shift is also covers the most ground of any Jason, tied with Jason IX.

Huh. Seems like as cool as NES Jason is, his music puts you at a disadvantage because the random stingers are so obviously not his chase music.

I love playing as Savini because everyone's always "OMG LOOK AT THAT" but I would much, much rather be rolling with 8, 7, or 3. Savini is a chump against slightly organized campers.

I bet in a highly organized goon match I'd get like one kill versus the 8 I can pull off with Jason 3.

So don't feel bad, anyone who missed out. Savini is probably the worst Jason. You're much better off looking at him and hearing his cool music than playing as him.

This only depends on if the counselor has thick skin, Savini's weapon hits are as powerful as Jason III's, just with a longer range and slightly slower swing.
