I don't know anything about the movie beyond the Wikipedia plot summary, but I guess it also whitewashes WWI from being a pile of convoluted aristocratic jackassery and imperialism into A GOD DID IT, but that's also pretty typical Hollywood blockbuster fare, I can't imagine it being that surprising or upsetting.

Eh, the love interest spends a lot of effort trying to convince her that it's a lot more complicated than that and people are just bad while humoring her to complete his mission, but I guess in the end its a fair cop because after Ares is defeated all the Germans wake up from a fugue. Also it does get super Manchean and kind of forgets that the Kaiser's army wasn't Nazis. I still think it was good on the balance (grading on the curve of Yet Another Children's Comic Book Superhero Movie) but I guess I am starting to see more why the dry boys would be moved to shriek at the screen through most of its runtime.
