Not the most portable thing there ever was but it served me well at many parties and BBQs. I can't imagine why anyone would chuck a working one in the recycling bin. There's an aux input on the back and everything. I'm sure it still blows away all but the best portables there are now.

I think it was a first-person sci-fi game on the N64 that had an emphasis on melee combat rather than just guns, and it had some pretty weird imagery. I never played it, but as a kid I had those huge guide books that were full of walkthroughs and tips for practically every game released on a particular console up to that point and it included pictures (as did the gaming magazines). From several pages back, but are you thinking of Hybrid Heaven? It wasn't first person, but it was a sci-fi game on the N64 with an emphasis on hand-to-hand combat (and pro wrestling moves, which you learned after aliens and stuff did them to you) and filled to the brim with all kinds of weird poo poo.

Man, I forgot how bright and oversaturated the 90s was when it came to pretty much everything colorful. TV shows, commercials, toys, clothes...compared to the sort of faded "realism" look that's been happening over the last decade or so. I never thought watching 90s commercials on YT would hurt my eyes so much lol
