I was thinking about upgrading my video card and have since learned that the pricing and availability of basically all decent cards are completely hosed due to idiots buying everything for cryptocurrency mining   this cyberpunk future is lame as hell and I want a goddamn refund

i seem to remember the price-performance scale of video cards creeping along with inflation, with the top-tier ones that started about $700 in 2002 costing about $1100 now; i think the problem is the generations aren't cycling nearly as often as they used to so they're holding their "value" longer. the ti4600 came out in 2002, was superseded by the fx the following year and obsoleted by the 6s in 2004, but nobody in 2003 who had a ti4600 was blowing $700 on an FX 5900u geforce 900s came out in 2014 and they're still perfectly serviceable today and not many people who have one can justify dropping $1000 on a 1080ti e i sck at words flakeloaf fucked around with this message at 19:54 on Jun 23, 2017 |
