I don't want the friendship ball of Lowry/Derozan to break up, but Lowry in Minnesota would be real fun to watch

Either this is speculation or Minnesota is opening their checkbook in a huge way and Taylor and Co don't mind losing money running a basketball team.

Man, I really hope that Hayward + Paul George rumor is true. I doubt they'd get past the Cavs, but that would be a super fun team to watch, and they'd at least make the Conference Finals competitive.

Wonder what they would give up for George in that scenario though? Crowder, the Nets pick and what else?

On the other hand the last time the Rockets tried to pair harden with a super athletic big leaving LA with health issues who had probably peaked in terms of athleticism and wanted a lot of touches that didn't end very well i guess...

If it's a deal with an extension in place it would probably be like Crowder, Bradley, the Nets pick and Memphis pick

For what it's worth I believe Lowry and Butler are friends and Butler wanted to recruit him to Chicago. So there may be something to that.

Hmm...don't want to lose Bradely.

On the hand, cry me a river, Danny. You should be aquiring assets with intent to get something for them. Not to horde them and cry and moan over how teams are demanding too much in return for what you want ad infinitum.
https://www.celticsblog.com/2017/6/...ltics-nbs-draft

quote:

As the Celtics spent the week negotiating trades they felt were outrageous, they wanted to send a message to their trade partners – or what remains of them after the Jimmy Butler trade and the Kristaps Porzingis calamity – that they can’t be held ransom by their lack of liquidity. CelticsBlog asked Ainge if he felt persecuted for his wealth management, held to a higher standard in his offers because of his embarrassment of asset riches.

“I think there's some truth in that. I think you're spot on there a little bit,” he said. “I mean, I know when I'm trying to do deals with teams, and I'm looking -- Oh, I'm going to call that team because they have something I'm really excited about. I think people around the league know what we have and they are asking for some of our prime real estate.”

When CelticsBlog asked if that has been the hurdle for getting to the finishing line on a trade for a tangible great player, Ainge remained steadfast on his organizational values.

“I don't know. I think over the last few trading periods, it's been a little bit of a hurdle. Bottom line, we have to do the deals we really believe in.

Losing Bradley doesn't matter one bit if we pick up PG and Hayward on multi year contracts for the wings

Also Danny sounds whiny as usual but he's probably right that people ask for more from them

I think Horford/PG/Hayward/Bradley/IT could beat Cleveland, even if your bench is gutted and no Smart or Chowder. It's probably a tier below GSW, but not by much and by the time next June rolls around it might be pretty close.

On the one hand Magic is basically a well-paid hype man but on the other hand it feels like this is going to be hilarious if it doesn't turn out well

Lmao I'm late on this, but I love how he says Lonzo is the new face of the Lakers. I wonder how PG feels about that?

The key thing is that the Wolves get two whole years of Butler in that insanely cheap contract. That's worth a downgrade in return

And the Bulls gave up effectively a pick swap for whatever reaosn

His entire game wasn't really based around his athleticism, it's mostly his jump shot (which the fact that he gets up so fast does help) and his handles that got him into the league as a point guard, despite the fact that ZACH LAVINE IS NOT A POINT GUARD. He's more proven at this point than Buddy, but I agree the injury thing is concerning.

The Butler trade also didn't mean having to take on Tyreke Evans, so that's another big point in its favor.

The Nets pick will be about the same odds as this years pick, I only see the Bulls as being as bad as the Nets next year. And yeah Memphis first 2019

Regardless of what the end result would be, you'd be getting a lot in return, more than you could get from any other team, because from any account of the rumor it hinges on PG signing an extension
