Can I share an uplifting story from my grandfather's funeral? Feel free to scroll past if it upsets you. My grandfather was 92, and a devout Catholic his entire life. He and my grandmother were a big part of the parish community at their church, and the priest, a little old Irish fellow named Father McCarthy, knew them both well and was fond of them. After he greeted us outside the church Tuesday morning, he excused himself, saying, "I have to get myself together, because if I'm not together, Audrey [my grandmother] won't like it." During the service, he spoke at some length about what my grandfather meant to the church community, and said, "I, personally, can say that I am a better person for having known him, and if I can be half the person he was, I'll have done well." It was really touching, and really showed me the extent of my grandfather's legacy in the influence he's had on so many people.

Her family held a memorial service for her at one of the parks she loved; we were asked to wear Hawaiian shirts or Friday casual, because we know she wouldn't hold truck with mopey traditional funeral garb. The various people who got up and spoke, and the stories that were shared, were very uplifting. I had not heard half of these stories, but they were all undeniably her and the badass adventurous person she was. Honestly that really helped all of us.

Why do they keep using the term "squirrel" instead of "chipmunk"? That's like referring to all cats as "felines". Do they not know what chipmunks are? Do they want to withhold how cute the video is by using a more generic and decidedly less cute term?

I looked it up to finally learn what the difference between squirrels and chipmunks. Turns out that squirrel is a taxonomic family that chipmunks and common tree squirrels both belong. Crows and ravens are similarly categorized, but I'll need to spend more time watching them in person before I'm going to be able to tell them apart.  Cat and crow are friends. I don't care if this is fake. Do you hear me, Internet? I don't care!!

If I remember right, ravens are larger, and have a more curved beak compared to crows. Crows are smaller in size. As a piece of interest, I seem to remember that there is a human bone or part of the shape of one named after the raven's beak (or maybe it was the crow's... ), but it's been a long time since physiology.

Martha just got crowned worlds ugliest dog.   Moe is a 16-year-old Brussels Griffon-pug mix and the oldest in the competition.  Chase came all the way from the UK to take third place.  Many of the contestants were adopted.  I'm Moe.
