£1bn spending increase, pension triple lock being maintained, cuts to the winter fuel allowance being scrapped. Pretty much the base things people expected

Some chatter the allocation of the extra 1bn could be conditional on a functioning executive in NI? That puts a bit more pressure on the talks which have a deadline of Thursday - the extra pork may convince the parties to reach some kind of bodge job of a deal to avoid collapse

WeAreTheRomans posted:Actually seem like surprisingly normal demands, was expecting the reinstatement of the RUC and public square executions of suspected Catholics it makes far more sense to demand the tories simply cede a bunch of political capital in the opening negotiation. Now the DUP saved the pensioners from the evil tories, who were almostly certainly going to bin the entire manifesto anyway, and can save abortion debate votes for when the tories realise they've got a problem with rebels.

Don't think they have that in them when all their best negotiators are doing Brexit.

Oh I agree it makes sense it's just weird to see them hold any political position more evolved than being red and angry about flegs.

I have to say given the music debate recently I realized I must have "musical anhedonia", or at least a mild variant of it, since I do have some vague memories that I've heard songs I liked and which made me feel something, but I wouldn't pay 10 cents* of lift a finger to try and experience it again, just not that fulfilling. Sometimes in my shop I turn on the radio but mainly I like it for the talking. I do listen to podcasts and stuff. https://noisey.vice.com/en_us/article/6a55k6/people-who-dont-like-music-arent-dead-inside-they-might-have-a-disorder * = or whatever music costs nowadays, I have no spotify or itunes or even own a CD.

That does state that the money is additional support to the Executive which nominally does mean unlocking the funding requires functioning power sharing - though in case of a collapse I would be surprised if pressure to honour the commitments was applied to whitehall

I think some of the songs I've liked were sonata arcticas actually... and Queen songs, oh yeah Queen, they are great, "princes of the universe" might be one of my favorites. I did infact look them up on youtube to listen to them with my kids (who are both 3-ish and love, loving love music and dancing and singing). It's songs like Queen that make me think I don't got the full bore variation because those people couldn't appreciate Queen.

I can't apply for a residency or naturalisation thing, because despite having been here for 7 years, I have not had either private health insurance or full time employment for five consecutive years. No one told me when I arrived that as a student I'd need a private health provider in order to be eligible for citizenship, and I've been happily using the NHS since I arrived. Immigration in this country is a bollocks.
