That is Nigel Dodds.

This year he will have to tone that down, in order not to cause any bad PR for Theresa.

I just want to see if anyone is mad they've binned the Barnett formula with out a vote. Or rather anyone but SNP and Plaid Cymru.

Also, I can't see the DUP highups not going all in as usual on marching season. Like, no chance, that poo poo is all they live for.

Also John Bercow just mocked MPs who can't understand STV for the Deputy Speaker elections.

Doddsy got the money for the York street interchange in his constituency which hes probably happy about, was under threat with the withdrawal of structural EU support

Lot of irate comments in my neck of the woods that a 1/5th of the new funding has already been earmarked for infrastructure east of the bann with no textual commitments to anything to the west

Some people saying the York Street funding frees up funding to complete the a5/6 but unsurprisingly people aren't massively optimistic

As I understand it they waved it away because the EU's response was "OK, but no more single market for you" and they decided the trade-off wasn't worth it.

On a different note, Panelbase's full poll is out now.

They actually haven't changed their survey methodology, all they did was use self-reported 2017 voting history rather than 2015 for weighting. My understanding, then, is that this poll *still* only counts you if you voted in the last election, but that's less biased than it was in 2015 because turnout was higher, and because they've expanded slightly to include anyone who was 8+/10 likely to vote in this poll, rather than just 10/10.

Notably, they say this poll's methodology would've underestimated the Lab 2017 vote by 2.5%, so if you believe the YouGov/Survation method more, then this probably is still underestimating the Lab lead.

Unfortunately doesn't look like we'll have an impending election to put it to the test but there it is.

Seems the opposition line of attack today is about Theresa May not accepting a deal that seems identical to one that she herself laid down with regards to EU nationals and UK nationals living in the EU.

I feel like I agree with her position though, that we shouldn't have separate courts for UK and EU citizens in the UK, which apparently is what the EU deal was looking for.

I assumed it was something to do with how people used to refer to Ukraine as "The Ukraine", which means roughly "The Borderlands". Saying "The Ukraine" is now considered insulting since it implies Ukraine is just a borderland of Russia as opposed to its own state.

I can't figure out from the etymology why you would call it "The Yemen" though

It's just a tick in old fashioned English where people sometimes put "the" in front of country names that don't sound like country names. Nobody subtly trying to ice-burn Ukraine or Yemen via definite articles.

Except actually 'the Ukraine' versus just 'Ukraine' was actually A Thing that was making Ukrainians angry back when the little green men were doing their thing, I guess because it subtly labels Ukraine as a region (of Russia) rather than a country.
