Freighter convoys were a thing before carriers/dreads were introduced and for a while after because carrier pilots were rare, carrier pilots who wanted to do logistics were rarer still. I remember having to escort like 20 odd obelisks from lowsec to pureblind? or maybe deklein way back in the day (like before goons in syndicate). The details have faded but the sense of boredom/frustration from the moves sure hasn't.

freighter escorts were a thing for a while when certain ihub upgrades couldn't be manufactured and had to be trucked in from highsec there are some that are freighter sized, and only seeded in empire nowadays there's blueprints for all of them so there's basically no need to escort a freighter ever

PL bridged a poo poo ton of freighters around back when we controlled half the map. The rainbow road was actually a super-impressive piece of space-infrastructure.

I used to ninja freighters in thru wormholes with Sov upgrades. Longest trip was a few jumps into venal going to k5f. But with a couple of alts scouting it was okay.

i would posit that the blame for albion being poo poo isnt entirely on greyscale. they invented all the bad, funless 'black zones' a year and some change before he signed up. the ceo of si also waxes on and on about how eve inspired his design for albion ever since the start what im saying is albion was always poo poo
