If nicehash wasnt so easy to get started they wouldnt never be mining, but neither would I Crypto currency is basically worthless so all the value is in speculation. Not to mention its like social networks when myspace was around and just cause you were hot poo poo one day didn't mean anything.

All that matters is can you buy drugs from the darknet with them? That is the only reason people care about cryptocurrencies and really its only bitcoin because that is what the dark net sellers want. The rest are like 'how many btc is this shitcoin worth?' because the only use for 99% of them is trading them for BTC.

All that matters is that even after taking electricity in to account i've made 250aud over the last few weeks for having my gpus do something while i leave my pc on because my net is loving garbage and takes for ever to dl stuff so gently caress it i'll keep taking fools money (Lol if you buy gpus for acutal mining tho)

his post history is incredibly painful to read. lots of posts about a lovely F2P mobile game, then 1 month ago he was talking about being a "new miner" who didnt know much about computer parts, and now hes talking about trying to get rid of 100s of videocards he bought and trying to build an AC'ed room inside of a warehouse he leased... bitcoin really is a disease

its good that he spent extra on the OC versions because then the ROI takes longer and he fails faster

I think 1070s might flash crash to 200 for a month as everyone panic sells like they did with 290s. That seems like a really good budget upgrade option for a lot of people.

My only disappointment is that the insanity did not cross over to 1080 and ti cards simply because they were 25% less efficient per watt for mining butts

That was pretty awesome for everyone who sold their 470/480/570/580/1060/1070 and got a 1080/ti though.

That is the only reason people care about cryptocurrencies and really its only bitcoin because that is what the dark net sellers want. Bitcoin has become too difficult to mine with unless you have serious power. Etherium is designed to always be mine-able with consumer equipment and prevent a horsepower arms race to solve increasingly complex math problems faster and faster. The problem is, they're basically at peak efficiency as every available mid-range card comes into the pool and appeared to be destined to for the forseeable future over the past few weeks. The flaw comes in who is buying this stuff, and it's not Darknet people necessarily. I almost guarantee it's popular for Chinese tycoons who want to export more money than Beijing allows. I can tell you that Vegas casinos already had a big business slowdown last year when "junket operators" that used to handle this for the Chinese players who pack the Strip's high roller salons were cracked down upon. Cryptocurrency is almost certainly seen as another answer due to it's poor regulation. But as tons and tons of hardware comes online making the coin at a rapid rate, the people handling these purchases can ask less and less for each coin, and the amount of processing going into mining is probably accelerating faster than the flow of money.

I'm dropping a solid 50c a day at the moment, but I don't particularly care as the $400 I've already put in my bank account took my partner out for some nice dinners and got me a new hard drive. She hates when I spend money I actually earned on her but if I dismiss it as "stupid buttmoney from my gaming computer" I get away with it Also I'm enjoying the fact that I dropped a short nicehash guide in the GPU thread and it's spawned this monster. A true buttlord keeps how easy it is close to their chest to avoid losing muhhashes so it's hard to find an actual guide for this poo poo.

I was seriously getting a mining rig together as I happen to have a newish 1070 and an old 290 which appeared to both be good cards for mining. Read this thread over the past week and changed my mind. Just sold both cards last night for stupid money and placed an order for a 1080ti using the proceeds. Thanks guys.

By the end of 2018, I will no longer have to work and live entirely off money made by not using my gaming rig to play video games. Mid-range video cards will cost as much as three and a half years annual income, and people who sold their cards in the foolish rush of june 2017 will be looked down upon as society's dregs, the fools who wielded power in their hands and voluntarily threw it away.
