Is it just me or is the new date for the awards show really bad? We are already pretty well into offseason drama and the regular season feels a million miles away at this point.

Everyone except Adam Silver agrees with you. 75 days after the regular season is absurd.

Nahh. He's a shithead that wasn't as good at basketball as he wanted to be so he is living through his sons. He's doing nothing but getting as much attention for himself as possible.

He didn't let them sign a huge deal with Nike and instead founded the Big Baller Brand.

His justification was that the Nike deal wasn't necessarily good. I think he cited an example of PG(?) taking years to finally get his own shoe and he's been a top NBA player for some time. Granted BBB branding is still at the heart of the matter and he cost his son some guaranteed money right now, but he's packaging his sons together and it helps out with his less talented middle child

If big baller works they will make more money then signing with Nike.

Of course, but its a risky move. If the ball children bust or end up as anything less than stars then they are losing tons of cash.

e: My big problem is that he is a father making financial decisions that benefit himself for his children who are young, don't have all the information, and are the ones, you know, actually doing all the work.

Wouldn't the BBB shoes sell a lot better at normal prices? Sure he'll sell some pairs at $500, but aren't Jordan's and Lebron's like $250 at most? He could sell his for $200 and still make way more money then signing with Nike, IF Lonzo is a star, if not, shoulda taken the guaranteed money.

Hornets have like $5M to spend before they hit the tax and need a big PG that can play next to Monk, but I assume with the youth tax MCW will get more than that

"Huge"

Those deals are never as big as they are reported. Tons of incentives to hit that number.

If Lonzo is good, and the shoes don't suck when playing basketball in them then he will move product. If Liangelo(lol) or Lamelo are good then it especially grows. And if they show they do good work they might be able to get other athletes to sign with them.

Its a long play and may end up not working out. But that decision is less sabotage and is more risking it all being an enterprenuer working for yourself for larger upside rather than going to work for a company which is more stable but you are capped on what you can make for the duration of the deal while also signing away your likeness.

I think the price is supposed to be part of the attraction, these are supposed to be ostentatious luxury items, not shoes you lace up for pickup at the Y.
