Separating the paid and non-paid shill accounts is easy on Reddit. Install Reddit Enhancement Suite and Toolbox: browser plugins that give some very useful features. When you're reading a comment and think "is this a paid shill?" click the H button next to their account name, and you get a summary of their last 1000 or so comments, with % breakdown of which subreddits they're active in. Very few actually venture away to more "risky" territory like /r/games, /r/gaming and /r/pcgaming. Then Tag the user for easy laughing later. Almost all of the toxic Citizens that are regularly quoted, are 80%+ /r/StarCitizen and/or /r/DerekSmart. They have a (paid) obsession with Star Citizen.
