Apparently clocks are all over the place, so unsurprisingly it's either TDP throttled or thermally throttling before it can properly run into its power limit. Fiji Lake-X Emergency Edition. Paul MaudDib fucked around with this message at 16:44 on Jun 28, 2017 |

4K Freesync monitor owners rejoice! If you crossfire two of these they may break the recommended 3DMark score for a 4K Gaming PC. People suspect it is thermal throttling. Not too surprising if it really uses 375W with a reference blower. reddit posted:"HE SAID THAT HE MAY OR MAY NOT BE POWER LIMITED DUE TO 550W PSU He said the clock was bouncing around a bit"

Yeah if the comparison to overclocked Fiji is anything, it's throttling extremely hard. Fiji should never even come close to this thing but here we are. I'm almost positive AMD had issues with bringing Vega up, such that they've had to delay and delay for a proper launch. But they also have investors, and so they need to meet those investors halfway. Introducing Vega FE, most definitely a H2 launch for Vega! No, this totally won't kneecap us with our extremely weird behavior about Vega, not at all.

Wouldn't the system just crash if the PSU is being overloaded?

I mean it's a reference cooler in a tiny case also. Cooler looks even worse than the nvidia FE cooler.

repiv posted:Wouldn't the system just crash if the PSU is being overloaded? Yeah if anything an overloaded PSU would cause instabilities, not throttling. The throttling certainly seems thermal related, the fact that they're offering a watercooled version should have been enough of a hint.

pros: i like the look of the reference cooler, it looks less stupid lightup boy racery than most bidcards. not like it matters that much cause who still has windows on their cases lol cons: like, the rest of it. all of the rest of it.

Some people really like that for some inane reason. 99% of the time the indicator should either be at zero or pegged to 100% and it's going to be blatantly obvious what's going on. If you're fine-tuning your GPU config then you'll be using GPUZ anyway.

Given that they've got a big fat toggle between "pro" and "gaming" drivers in crimson I would have figured that "gaming" wouldn't run the ram in ECC but hey, it's AMD we're talking about here.

Maybe they're trying to paper launch and delay shipment until they can put out another round of drivers that actually function

Same drivers, same silicon, same reference board, everything.
