He is still great but Father Time catches point guards faster than big men, never know when he could have an injury that ruins him. I just listened to a podcast on this and it's going to allow him to re sign in Houston (if he wants) after this contract for a full 5 year max if I understood correctly

THey own his Bird rights. CP3 protected himself.

Much rather have CP on the Rockets than the Spurs. Also, Warriors GM Bob Myers received his Executive of the Year award at his old high school, he's really a cool dude and the exact personality opposite to Lacob. https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/880234152007577600

Who wins a series of all the best active Kentucky players (coached by Pop or Carlisle) vs GSW?

Spacebump posted:Who wins a series of all the best active Kentucky players (coached by Pop or Carlisle) vs GSW? Probably still the Warriors but you could make a pretty nasty team with Cousins, Davis, Wall, MKG and Booker as a starting 5. Spacing would suck though.

Spacebump posted:Who wins a series of all the best active Kentucky players (coached by Pop or Carlisle) vs GSW? I was going to say AD and Boogie alone would wreck teams then I remembered and lolled The Warriors probably win considering the Kings had 3 of the top 12 in 2015-16 and were a trash fire. Plus KAT/AD/Cousins creates a weird logjam that three of your best four players can't really be on the court at the same time.

Spoeank posted:I was going to say AD and Boogie alone would wreck teams then I remembered and lolled The usual reason "jumbo" lineups don't work is that they don't have the floor spacing due to lack of outside shooting. Cousins developed a decent three-point shot. They still lose, but I don't think that's the reason why.

Any modern defense is going to help off MKG like he's an empty space. He's just not playable in a series unless you play him at the four and have him cut all the time. And even then, you need a lot of shooters that are not John Wall.

Not including the Sean long trade which was for a player to keep and separate Man Morey is a crafty little fat man. We see that friendship and being excellent at math and taking advantage of incompetent GM's are the stuff that contending NBA teams are made of. Tae posted:Don't the metrics say Kawhi is not that special of a defender His defensive numbers greatly recovered (though not to their levels of the last few years) after the spurs counter schemed against offenses taking Kawhi out of plays by just putting his man as far away from all actions as possible, not perfectly, but they adjusted. Also he played with a lot of worse defensive players rather than playing with Timbo Duncman, I like DRPM but the network effects and priors all tend to show. He ended the 7th ranked wing after you sort out all the specialists who played less than 30 minutes per game. Which is why I tend to believe that Avery Bradley is at very least a solid defender and not the worst in the league, since he has to cover for IT. But I do think his off ball defense is not great, other players just remember him being annoying and long armed in their faces. Dejan Bimble fucked around with this message at 03:59 on Jun 29, 2017 |

Yeah, Kawhi is such a good defender that his player just kinda chills in the corner or high past the 3 pt line to keep him out of the play. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/kawhi-leonard-is-so-great-at-defense-hes-actually-hurting-the-spurs/

Skal was both a great get at #28 and developed very nicely as the season progressed. Buddy turned things around when he came here. WCS made a huge 180 after initially struggling with Joerger's more rigid structure. Not a huge fan of Malachi but he worked his way into Joerger's rotation before tearing his hamstring. Bogdan was almost a throw away in that Phoenix trade but has been a very good player overseas. Still a long way to go but the cupboard doesn't seem as bare as it was 6 months ago.

If Bogdan is as promised, Bogdan + Skal for Chriss is going to look like highway robbery. The Kings are gonna have 9 players on their first contracts so they're entering the development part (WCS, Papa, Bogdan, Skal, Buddy, Fox, Giles, Jackson, Mason)

He helps you guys against most of the league but I don't think he helps against GSW unless he can consistently outplay Steph. And the last time he did that was that playoff series in '14 when the Clips won. And if Dekker is fully healed and healthy I think you'll regret losing him in the long run.

Its questionable at best if anyone can compete with the Warriors really, especially anyone without Lebron. But Houston has prime James Harden and that won't last forever, so might as well try. Rockets fans unhappy about losing players like Dekker or Harrell, yeah, they're cool and all, but adding Paul to Harden gives Houston the potential to bring in more talent via trade or free agency and gives them a chance to compete with Golden State. They traded a bunch of likeable players, but come on, are any of them going to be a crucial piece to winning a title? I'll miss Beverley, but uh, the replacement is a bit of an upgrade. Lou Williams can score but is an atrocity on defense. The rest all seem likable and all but they're basically good rotation players at best, and mostly potential rotation players at that. That isn't hard to find, and Morey has proven he doesn't struggle to find it. Maybe it won't work, maybe CP3 leaves in a year. But its not like the Rockets mortgaged their future here.
