it's weird because 2 years from now their UFAs they can get rid of by then are fayne, the korpedo's buyout, letestu, and maroon. their core group for better or worse is all out into the 2020s. i think they should have just buried him to get actual relief in 2019 and 2020

Injured players can't be bought out without their consent. If Pouliot happened to be injured during next year's buyout period and didn't consent to a buyout, the Oilers would be screwed - better to do it now, just in case.

keeps being rumored that Vladimir Tkachev is at least going to attend Rangers training camp...he bought out his KHL contract and was supposed to be at the prospect camp they're having now but had visa issues. Could be interesting, very skilled and still young, put up good numbers in the KHL last season. Pretty slight though. Also a winger, don't know how that would pan out when teh Rangers need centers unless there are more moves to be made this summer
