Little trivia: The actors for the Netflix show were trained by Chavo Guerrero Jr. In the actual fed, the wrestlers were trained by his uncle Mando Guerrero.

Chavo's got really strong fundamentals so he'd probably do well at training

I'm not sure there's a better example of 'getting your poo poo in' than doing the BME in a fictional dinky territory show set in 1985.

There was an interview with Alison Brie where she talked about how Chavo taught them the fundamentals, but as training went on, he slowly began to cater individual training to each of them, helping them to develop and play to their strengths and what they could do in the ring.

A while ago, there was a video posted of old pro-wrestling from Europe, might have been France, where both guys were doing spots you would see in a super-junior/cruiserweight match today. Anyone still have that link? I think it was from the 60s. And there might be a similar video I'm thinking about from the early 20th century where the wrestlers looked like they were doing more modern moves.

From a few pages back, but here's one from 1969 with female wrestlers which is well ahead of its time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nn45dQWxzk

Also, here's a tag team match that I'm watching just now from the late 60s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW-fHdpiXpA

Personally I always thought he just suffered from being a Guerrero, comparison wise. The family is full of great workers. And I really liked his run as Cruiserweight champ towards the end of WCW. And anytime he and Eddie were together it was magic, and it wasn't just Eddie carrying him, IMO.

I thought he was frankly not very good with the belt and really soured the coronation of Shane Helms. Not that it mattered long term. He's also shockingly not adaptable to other styles. Very bland and boring overall.

I thought his FCW and NXT stuff was pretty cool. He held the Smackdown title for a cup of coffee until his lovely Wrestlemania match with Orton. For the most part he's been a high profile jobber though, and his Eater of Worlds gimmick is thoroughly undercut by his inability to win a feud.

I like the guy too, but they killed him with garbage booking.

If you want to see an entertaining wreck, the House of Horrors ppv match he had with Orton is abysmal. Supposedly the WWE had no clue what the match was even supposed to be until pretty much the last minute even though they promoted it for, like, a month. Long story short Randy takes a shirtless limo ride to a meth shack, fistfights Bray until he gets a fridge dropped on him, then teleports to the arena after Bray steals Brandy's limo to RKO him for the win.

It is a strong worst match of the year candidate.

God that's a shame, he has probably the coolest heel gimmick around in WWE right now.

Speaking of heel gimmicks, I just saw a video of The Young Bucks and their crew taking over a wrestling show and continually superkicking every wrestler (they ziptied one to the ropes and kept kicking him) and staff member, down to the announcers and camera guys. Where do I go to see more of these guys?

DangerDummy!

At one point, when they idea may have been to make Bray the new Undertaker, he stole Undertaker and Kane's magical lightning and fire powers, but the Brothers of Destruction completely beat the poo poo out of Bray and his three giant cult members and presumably got their powers back. This was done a week in advance of a big match they were meant to have on, iirc, Survivor Series. It made no sense whatsoever.

Don't care about Bray Wyatt. It will only frustrate and confuse you.

Do care about the Young Bucks, they put more effort into their web series than Vince has ever put into Bray Wyatt. If you have AXS you can see them wrestle for New Japan in California this weekend

NJPW specifically, but you can find a lot of great stuff of theirs on PWG. Last I checked there was a Bucks vs. The World's Cutest Tag Team match on Youtube that is a ton of fun, but be aware that it has some fairly shocking spots featuring a woman named Candace LaRae (one half of TWCTT). Candace is a badass and such a good wrestler, so don't feel bad for her. She's a goddamn gamer.

Lance Storm is a much better and more adaptable wrestler than Chavo.

Dory Funk Jr, Ultimo Guerrero and many others disprove the notion. In reality the greats tended to make a lot of money and didn't need to train anyone. So you'd only see great workers who couldn't quite make it on top like Larry Sharpe or someone small like Buddy Wayne end up training most of the time.

I'm not making a fucking QCS thread for this but seriously can we take a harder stance on Kiwifarms freaks like this guy, Jesus Christ seriously, you used to be better at knocking these creeps down. I guess ADTRW mods aren't responsible like GBS mods are.
It all just depends. Okay workers can create great trainees, Chuck Taylor broke Ricochet into the business and Ace Steel brought up Punk & Cabana. Chavo has great ground work and teach most people the basics pretty well, but he's no Ultimo Dragon or Sanshiro Takagi. I agree with Mass that Lance Storm is extremely adaptable, a lot more than Dean Malenko which would probably be his closest comparison

Um Shawn Michaels trained Bryan Danielson, which might be pertinent to this conversation. The only unique thing about that situation was that 99 percent of big name trainers gently caress off to do pills and never show up to class and let someone else do all the actual training while they take the profit.

Juss saying I distinctly remember DB talking on a podcast about Shawn getting into the ring and being super enthusiastic about it and taking bumps even though his back was wrecked. I think he learned a bit from Shawn.
