The Devils will probably outbid almost everyone for Shattenkirk. They have tons of cap room and have an embarrassingly awful defense. I suppose the only enticements they could give him is that he is from the area and he will be "the guy" for them. But somehow I feel like he will want to take a little less to play for a serious contender and maybe not have to go night after night playing alongside Ben Lovejoy or Mirco Mueller.

The Jets don't have cap issues and he'll be gone when they really need to free some room for Laine. Plus by then it will be clear whether Hellebuyck is for real or not. I also don't think the Jets are really in the running for Alzner because I can't see them committing term and money to bit players when they have to sign Trouba, Morissey, Ehlers, Laine etc over the next couple of years.
