Perhaps Star Wars is also using subtle manipulation through colour and staging to purposefully achieve that effect?

It wanted to make me feel suffocated, attacked and drained? I can understand why a film about abusive relationships might want me to feel that way but I gotta say, that's a pretty strange tactic for an action adventure series that expects me to keep coming back for multiple movies!

Because if it was intentional, it made me not want to watch the other seven films. Which would be a really stupid intent.

Sure, that's the thing, isn't it? Even after they were completely beaten by Palpatine and all their friends were killed and they've had 20 years to think about what went wrong, Obi-Wan and Yoda still don't quite get it.

The whole "love and passion are forbidden" thing was made up for the prequels so that Lucas could create a forbidden love story point for Anakin and Padme. It was completely absent in the original trilogy.

A thirst for adventure and excitement were warned against, but never love or friendship.

Nonsense. It's a major plot point of ESB that Luke should abandon his friends to their fates in order to achieve enlightenment and then kill Darth Vader.

Instead Luke embraces his father and the galaxy is saved from tyranny.

These are very simple films.

Dark Souls 3 is the best one by a really wide margin. As long as we are only counting souls games with the word souls in the title. Even then it's basically on par with Bloodborne or really close

the problem isn't love even in the prequels. it's obsession Luke's obsession with fighting vader is shown to be bad in the dagobah cave scene. Anakin's obsession with saving padme causes the very thing he's afraid of.

the jedi are just hosed up and scared throughout the whole prequal trilogy

Probably not actually super unpopular on second thought, but I've had a lot of mostly 'just out of school' age people lament that their school didn't offer German, or sometimes ask if I can teach them (no). The inevitable justification is "I'm German" or ""German just sounds cool" very good reasons to invest in some 1400+ hours of instruction
Yeah I'm probably dumb

I think languages are one of those things that it's perfectly fine to just learn for no reason. It can be fun and while you might rarely need it, it does open up the possibility of talking to millions of people you couldn't talk to before. Plus even though you can get around Germany easy enough with only english, it's different/more enjoyable if you aren't isolated in a little tourist bubble.

If you have the time and like a challenge there's really no reason not to.

The way I figure, I should have learned Chinese, Arabic, Spanish, or Russian in school for their immediate relevancy to the world, and learned German through independent study if I really felt like it, instead of vice versa. For the amount of time I've invested in learning German, I've spent a month in Germany and occasionally end up running into a German in the US, when I could have been selling my soul to Putin or making bajillions in the east. I think I just have a lot of self hate and feel like I wasted two hours a day in high school. People do 100% misunderestimate the time investment and difficulty of learning languages though

Fortunately we had a choice and could pick either spanish, german or french. I went with spanish but I do wish I had gone with German instead. "The east" isn't the only place you can make money after all. If you have the qualifications you can make a very good amount if you move somewhere like Switzerland, and speaking German just opens more opportunities (even if their version of German is a little hosed).

German is the language of love according to some porn on SUBTV and also it's probably the easiest language for English-speakers to learn along with Swedish because it's basically just bastardized German/Swedish.

I don't think it is inherently angry. It's definitely not the most pleasant sounding language but it's very easy to tell when a german is mad vs happy. I think part of the stereotype is their tendency to be more serious/formal than americans which is taken as anger or rudeness.

I feel that if you know English, German and Spanish you can get by in most of the world. You also have a pretty good jump off point to learn French and Italian which are basically less popular Spanish, Dutch which is basically German, English and a bottle of hard liquor in a blender, and Scandinavian which is basically German with a potato in your mouth.
