I'm not sure E-9 in 15 is possible without STEP early promotions around E-5 to E-7 and E-4 BTZ, obviously.

I can't imagine someone with 15 years TIS makes a good Chief. Jesus.

Broke down or :airquote:broke down:airquote:? Judging by the number of planes that get grounded as soon as they arrive, the bases flying missions to USAFE have really poo poo maintenance.

^Well, systematically crippling an already disgruntled career field (acft mx) over two decades will do that. It's not just at the good places, poo poo is broken to a stunning degree everywhere.

If anything, it'll be like the NOAA. Everyone will wear a uniform and be covered under the Geneva Conventions, but it won't be a military branch as we'd know it.

Done correctly, it would be an organization of technical experts, directed by people who came up the ranks working on satellites. Being the spawn of the Air Force (assuming it ever happens, and I assume no such thing), it won't be done correctly.

I eagerly await an organization with no combat experience and a giant inferiority complex about being "armed forces."

The AFSC break down for 17E7 came out and the promotion rates of the standard promote ranking seems to be hovering around single digits which is super depressing. Maybe testing out of cycle this year might help but I doubt it, looks like a 9% promotion rate in the long run.

Diego you actually had to be reasonably competent since you pretty much worked autonomously. They even make you get a letter from your CC stating you were competent and could be trusted to work with minimal supervision.

Of course I got sent there so you see how strictly this policy is enforced

one of my favorite Air Force memories is literally being dragged by my commander across Ramstein both hungover as gently caress on a midweek morning past that big NATO building and people going to work after spending the previous night going to a few on base bars and ending up at some crazy aeromedical party. No excuse for not being able to get a good breakfast on Ramstein.

We went to a German place for dinner that was really good before we hit the bars that used Germans fulfilling some sort of military/civil service as waiters. Couldn't for the life of me tell you if it was next door to the English place though that whole week was a blur of being told to go places and to drink.
