i don't know if anyone in here watched kado, but wow what a trainwreck of a show. like, one of it's ending notes is that children make good weapons for murdering your enemies with. just wow

i guess the thing that makes kado notable to me is that it had a good deal of potential. up until episode 7 or so it seems p philisophical and interesting (though it does make some missteps up to this point, like having an MC shidou who is a master negotiator who never loving negotiates but whatever). it then goes on to completely squander all of it's potential via a number of tonal shifts through episodes 8-12 that feels like the creators deliberately did whatever they could to spit on its previous potential. we're talking about an anime that goes from "what would happen if higher beings came and gave us technology well in excess of our own?" or at least looking like it's going to analyse that to magic alien waifus and the MC pointlessly, intentionally getting himself killed and having his kid kill the antagonist 3 minutes after his pointless death just to surprise the antagonist (also, this whole tactic was supposed to be negotiation somehow  ). also, said kid is literally not mentioned 3 minutes before she kills the antagonist.

There's technically callbooks too that lists out what to do, but I didn't memorize anything other than vaguely knowing to go from blue to orange in koi no naritai aquarium, and I'm pretty sure only like 30 people knew what to do for Walkure. Despite that, Walkure was one of the big cool moments where everyone in the theater just responded and went to red and purple, which was pretty drat cool. Same with wake up girls, where pockets of people knew to go green, which caused everyone else to go green, and then transition into white in one of their songs.

yeah, part of it also is just that when a few people in a group start doing something, the natural instinct is to go along with it. so only the (relatively) few turbofans have to know the call and responses/transitions/whatever, because everyone else will just go along with it.

I'm seeing a ton of clips from Koe no Katachi / A Silent Voice, and it makes me so happy that this film is FINALLY getting the recognition it rightfully deserves! Kimi no na wa was overrated anyways.
