Could be that Genjirou somehow warped his growth by persistently refusing to drink blood? His dad has no such reservations about partaking in typical vampire things, so he'd be unaffected.

Correct me if I'm misunderstanding, but that is what triggered his freakout, right? He's been trying to suppress his instinct to drink blood for years, until the craving finally erupted in spectacular fashion, and from there he got even more stressed because everybody was looking at him like he was a monster. I'm a bit confused, though; in this reading, he hasn't sucked any blood since coming to school, but I thought it had previously been mentioned that he'd drank Touho's blood during one of their amusement park dates, and that was back when he was still human size. I feel like I must be missing something here, since the author has otherwise been fantastic about weaving a bunch of consistent little details together over the length of the story.

I am glad that we got to see Genjirou's childhood home, however briefly. With so much of the story focused on supernatural folks trying to assimilate to human society, I've been curious about what becomes of vampires who don't decide to go off to human high school.

There's the possibility that he lied to his daughter because of the consequences of his actions. He didn't want her to attempt it either.

It might be a level of frequency that matters here.

Maybe the rejection of his vampire self caused so much internal rage that he warped his body too far. He saw vampires as monsters so that's what he became.

Huh. That sort of ties into the theme of Jitsu Wa as a whole, doesn't it. "Actually, I am ..." You become what you think you are, and with the right impetus you can change your inner self and thus alter your whole life. So maybe there's still a Good End lurking for Genjirou after all these years.

I can't wait for the official English books to reach this arc and replace the Genjiro's inner turmoil with "My monster secret is I want to be a human."

He'd drank Touko's blood before, I'm sure. He's been eyeing her neck for several chapters now, so he's been trying to suppress the urge as much as possible. And then, because he was holding back so much he lost control and drank from Touko in the middle of class, and did the thing that vampires apparently do when they drink blood after having not drank any for a long time. It wouldn't surprise me if the only other time he drank Touko's blood was on the ferris wheel that one time.

You pretty much have it. My understanding is he may have had some blood here and there, but he very much resisted the urge till it exploded out of him. That and the trauma of all of the people he cared about seeing him as a monster triggered him to go ultra vampire. Youko, thankfully, has been doing the slow normal transformation, which is why she has yet to XBOXHUEG herself. I think Genjirou is the exception, not the rule.

I don't know of anywhere legally online. A library might have paper copies, though. The first six books are available in english so far, and book seven is coming in about three weeks.

https://bato.to/reader#70df1e8019fc50ef

So here's the deal. Everyone worked their butts off to get everything done early before we went to Anime Expo. The plan was that I would typeset it on Tuesday night when I got back and then we'd release it on Wednesday as normal. Sadly, I got back super late, and I caught a cold at the con, so I feel like poo poo. But, because I didn't want the hard work everyone put in to go to waste, I sudafed' up and burned this out. There may be mistakes, because I only did a very quick QC on 4chan after I finished typesetting it, so we might need a V2, but otherwise I wanted to release it tonight, if a bit late. I'm sorry it's late, but I hope you enjoy it. And to those of you who are worried by this new, much darker tone to Jitsu wa, trust me when I say there will be comedy in the coming chapters. Yes, we are entering the final arc with chapter 178, but there is humor mixed in to the climax. Please enjoy it, and please support the series by buying the official translations.
