In Australia we had a local Kinder Surprise knockoff in the form of a chocolate Bunyip-esque creature called a Yowie with a toy capsule inside. I bring this up for fellow Ausgoons, because Yowies seem to have risen from the grave to stalk the candy isles of K-Mart.

I know where there is another one still going strong, its slightly different than mine, but then the one I pictured isn't exactly the same either. They must have had a few minor changes throughout the run....

Yeah you can really divide the 90s into the "pre-Nirvana" and "post-Nirvana" fashions. Everybody was wearing flannel and long-sleeve shirts under t-shirts. And yeah, everything was suddenly faded colors, no more brights. Dark red, black, brown and green. This is what Vogue magazine looked like in the "post-Nirvana" era Holy poo poo The 90s were also the only time you could take off your sweater and tie it around your waist and not be instantly called a tool.

There is a hair salon in my tiny hometown that latched on to the pink-and-teal on black-and-white Duran Duran album cover aesthetic and clings to it to this day. Even the outside of the storefront is alternating stripes of black, white and pink.

I still see those Duran Duran things on salons fairly often. I always wonder if they're still selling those decals or if they've all just been there since 1985. Always thought that style was pretty cool actually. I enjoyed the look of that Moonbeam City show alot. The writing... Not so much. https://youtu.be/MxqqAXjAQk4

That's all copied from the aesthetic of Patrick Nagel (just google image search the name) which is definitely more of an 80s thing.

Movies are all orange/blue color filtered now (The Hobbit was especially bad). The pilot of House MD did a really weird color saturation thing with orange and blue and browns and sepias, and used really low lighting. They didn't actually end up using it for the rest of the show, its kinda weird: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FanXU570rYc Towards the end of the pilot it starts to feel like a Halloween palette; orange and black. I'm really annoyed that baggy jeans hasn't come back. I'm 6'4" and a size 15 shoe and I look so loving doofy in tight jeans. When I wore jncos in the 90s I loved it because it hid how stupid my sneakers looked (even if I was wearing the new Jordans I was self conscious how they looked when I wore shorts). The closest I can find now are Carhart baggy on Amazon but even those would be considered skinny jeans in the 90s. I recognize how ridiculous jnco was but maybe there can be some middle ground???

Just big poofy pants but still jeans. I don't want fabric constantly squeezing my legs!

I have a pair of 36 jeans that are actually less tight and more comfortable than some 38s I usually wear. They're pretty old so they should have shrunk in the wash or something by now, but they just stay fairly loose as the rest of my jeans get tighter over time. Jeans are weird, man.

Jean companies have very different interpretations of what constitutes 36 inches. God help you if you wear an odd number size (I wear 31s when I can find them, 32s when I can't, which is basically all the time.)
